The followiug communication needs no xplanation: To the Editor: Having noticed in a fecent issue of the Evening Call that the iamous populist apostle, illiara Dech, : has been driven to desperation because the democratic convention at Chicago adopted the almost idaotial pidtmrui which he has been advocating for some time, it seems to us that he is placing himself in a a somewhat peculiar attitude before the people whom he has been trying to pros elyte these many years. lie has been known to assert in several of his speeches that in the event that the populist party never became of sufficient magnitude to carry into effect the principles which it advocates, it certainly would become of nfflo'ient importance to cause one or the other of the old parties to Adopt those Erinciples. He has lived to see that food ope realized, but it seems that be will not be comforted. We thought that he was honest in his teaching, and had the welfare of the people at heart and be lieved that he would advance, with out stretched arms to receive the long looked and earnestly sought for aid. But con trary to all precedents, he entreats his followers to repulse the proffered assist ance. We arise to ask, why thus? Echo answers, "William got a glimpse of Han na's pay car." William seems to forget the generosity of his constituents, who administered to his wants, while II. C. Russel, by authority of his office, was withholding his monthly salary to the great detriment of the said William. However, something seems to have softened the heart of the obstinate Russel and he says to William, "Resign your position, as steward of the state pententiary." Receipt me, for your ac cumulated earnings. Take a trip through Colorado, Idaho, and the entire west. Get a sniff of mountain air, think noth ing of expenses, and when you return, we hope that politics, to you, will have assumed an entirely different aspect." strange, indeed I little aid the popu lists of this country think that this noble apostle who had been their solace would desert them in their hour of peril, when victory was seemingly in their grasp: and to add insult to injury, appeal to honest populists to come to bis rescue, Take warning, William, that you have launched your craft with your own hand upon a relentless sea. and the day that the gallant and glorious ship of Bryan and Holcomb goes down your mud scow will have been forever sunk in the vortex. Geo. E. Roberts, being the safest, roost reliable remedy for sour stomach, chronic dyspepsia, gas, bloating, palpitation, headache; consti pation and in all cases where the appe tite is poor or the food imperfectly di gested. It is safe to say that Stuart's Dyspep sia Tablets will cure any kind of stom ach trouble except cancer of the stom ach. They are not a secret patent med icine but composed of vegetable and fruit essences, pure pepsin, Golden Seal, ginger and the digestive acids. They are pleasant to take, can be carried in the pocket, and they cure because they digest the food promptly before it has time to ferment and poison the blood. Druggists everywhere sell Stuart's Dy spepsia Tablets, full sized packages, at 50 cents. RaniMdeli, hitherto a strong republican leader, residing at Traverse City, has been nominated for congress in the Eleventh Michigan district by a joint convention of Populists, democrats and silverites. Insurance Department. Conducted by 3. T. H. Swlgart. Correspondence solicited. A HEW DYSPEPSIA CUBE- Orel 6.0C0 People in the State of Michi gan Cured in 1894 by this New Preparation. Stuart's Dvsrepsia Tablets, the new discoverv for stomach troubles, is claimed to have cured over 6,000 peo pie in the state of Michigan alone in 1894. These tablets have become so popular with physicians and people who have any form of indigestion that they have the endorsement of such physicians as Dr. Harlandson and Dr. Jennison as The State Journal has persisted in giving the wrong date forevery appoint ment of Tom Watson since he came into the state. It has not done it ignorantly, but willfully, after the correct dates have been given it and a request made not to publish them at all or give the right aates. 1 bat is the paper the ignorant and deceived republicans rely upon for news. Skwakd, Neb., Sept. 21. (Special Cor respondence.) I noticed in a recent issue of the State Journal an account of the republican rally at this place on Satur day, with an audience of 3,000 on the square at the evening meeting, Perhaps the Journal received such a report and perhaps they did not, but their evening meeting had less than 500. One-third were outspoken pops and silver demo crats and a good percentage of the bal ance were women and children from the city. There were not forty people from the country. The republicans here in Seward county are just as they are in Douglas and Lancaster counties they must have a fair, reunion or something of that kind in order to get a crowd at all. Ed. P. Smith of Omaha spoke to thepeople on the fair grounds on Friday to a better crowd than the republicans had on Saturday. Then Mr. Smith drove twelve miles south to Milford. where he spoke to one of the largest political meeting ever held in this coun ty. Let me say to the dear old Journal that the silver party has now today more men on their club lists than the re publicans ever cast in this county, or ever will cast, and yet we are not through with the good work of organizing. The Milford club has a membership of 200 and over and more are coming. Our clubs are growing every day with names long associated with the republican party. Dear old hypocritical goldbug party. Oh yes, I was there once myself, too. l gave three years and seven months of the best of ray life service to answer my country's call in time of dan ger, and now an enemy more dangerous than in the years of 1861 and 186 strike at a more vital spot than then and the Journal with its false correspon dents are trying to deceive, misrepresent and falsify without reason or respect. Uncle Jake Wolfe of Lancaster county. Is known all over the state os a man of Sterling worth. If indications do not fail, he will succeed as commissioner of public lands and buildings the most venomous, vindictive and self-important officer who has ever been inflicted on up a long suffering people by a band of po litical guerillas, utter disregard of or dinary courtesy and shrewd manipula- tiou of affairs with an effort to bring dis credit upon the administration of Gov ernor Holcomb has marked "Colonel" Russell's career. The people of Nebraska do not and cannot understand the modis operandi of many land deals negotiated by the wily "colonel" and his predeces sors in office, and every citizen can feel assured that Uncle Jake Wolfe will fer ret out the rascality when he gets hold of the office next January. E. E. Brown of Hamburg, la., says that in Page county of that state, at the last election, there were only 700 votes cast for the democratic ticket, while at the present time there are 1,800 mem bers of the Bryan and Sewell clubs in the county and several places yet to organ ize. Bryan's plurality in Iowa is placed at abont 40,000. Savannah Democrat. Rlpans Tabules: at druggists. FOR AUDITOR. We recommend that everyone of the members of mutual insurance companies lend their influence to elect J. F. Cornell, Richardson countv for the following rea sons: He is a farmer, is competent, is a believer in mutual insurance, has been a member of the Richardson county mu tual since its organization, also a mem ber of the Nebraska Cyclone company and has always favored that plan of insurance. He has a good education and will make a good officer when elected. If he had it in his power to injure the stock he would not do so, because he is a populist and thoroughly believes in the live and let live plan of all people and corporations, and further there was not a faction of stock insurance company men in the populist convention to say just who should be nominated for auditor and attorney general, as there was in the re publican party convention. Mr. Cornell believes that it is bis duty as auditor to follow the directions of the law as he finds it, and that It is not his duty as auditor to interpret the law and put an estopple on the working of insur ance laws until the proper authorities the courts) so instruct unless the insur ance companies, either stock or mutual, are not fulfilling law as he finds it on the statutes of our state. He has served as county commissioner for Richard county several years in a way that put him in the front rank as a business man for the interest of the peo ple. We want to elect him sure, and would like for each secretary and presi dent who will, write us and we will send them a printed slip for each of their members, on which we will show just why the next auditor and attorney gen eral should be. J. F. Cornell of Verdeu and C. J. Sniytheof Omaha. Please let me hear from you at once. . WATSON'S SPEECH FOB SALE. Mr. Shilling estimates the value of his drug stock at $10,000 with insurance of 17,000 and $2,000 on fixtures. The loss will reach between 75 and 8a per cent of stock. The insurance was carried by the Grand Rapids Concordia, Stato of Pennsylvania, Greenwich and Glensfalls. The Lancaster county fair opened yes terday. The day was taken up largely by arranging the exhibits. The exhibi tions of corn are the finest seen in the county for years. It is just about per fect. The display of other agricultural products is also very fine. A number of horses and cattle, as well as other live stock, have been entered.
