RECEIVE TOUCH OF FALL
From Tuesday's Dally
This morning when the mercury
dropped to 40 degrees above zero it
brought the first breath of real
autumn and with It a general quick
ening of the movements of the resi
dents as they hurried to their daily
tasks. Light overcoats were to be
seen in the early morning procession
of workers and business men and
clerks, while in many of the business
and apartment houses the heat was
turned on to accommodate the resi
dents. It was the chilliest day of
the fall and while a very sudden
drop brought a welcome relief from
the extreme heat that for several
weeks made it uncomfortable.
