Mrs. Mabel Winn and Ralph were
Lincoln visitors Saturday.
Wilson Howe was sawing some
big tree trunks for Ellis Mickle on
"Wednesday and Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ol3on. of
Waverly, were Saturday night guests
at the Jesse Williams home.

Mrs. Ruth Taylor was assisting at
the Arthur Roelofsz home for a few
days while Mrs. Roelofsz was ill.
Mrs. Arthur Roelofsz has been on
the sick list for the past week.
Friends hope she will soon be feel
ing much better.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook and Mr.
and Mrs. H. L. Bornemeier were din
ner guests at the George Bornemeier
home Thursday evening.
Mrs. Fifer and son Harold and
Mr. and Mrs. Win. Kitzel were in
Plattsmouth looking after some busi
ness Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Klyver and
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hiers and
little daughter were guests Sunday
at the Arthur Klyver home in Lin
coln. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Weichel were
among' the guests present Wedncs
day evening at the James Lytle
home for a pinochle party in Elm
wood. Mrs. Randall Mayes, of Lincoln
(the former Miss Doris Klyver) and
infant daughter were able to leave
the St. Elizabeth hospital and re
turn home Thursday. They are re
ported to be getting along fine.
Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Hardnock call
ed at the Orval Oerbeling home near
Murdock Thursday afternoon to see
their little granddaughter, who has
ben ill with flu and complications
the past four weeks. They found her
feeling quite badly with ear trouble.
Mr. and Mrs. Hardnock also called
on Mrs. John Woods and father,
Mr. Henry Miller at Elmwood. They
found them both feeling quite well.
Mrs. Frank Hemke accompanied
her sister Josephine and husband of
Lincoln to Texas Friday night,
where the two ladies will visit their
parents and other members of the
family for a few days. Mrs. Hemke,
Sr., is assisting at the Hemke home
and helping Frank with the child
ren during the absence of their

Entertained at Party
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Collins en
tertained about twenty guests at a
pinochle party Saturday evening. All
report a most pleasanr. time.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hiers are
the proud parents of a. fine son born
at their home Sunday morning. Jan
uary 22. The mother and son are
doing fine. MrB. Carl Bornemeier is
assisting at the Hiers home.
Ladies Enjoy Pinochle Party
Eight ladies enjoyed a pinochle
party at the home of Mrs. Simon
Rehmeier Thursday afternoon. Those
present were Mesdames Winn, Jesse
Williams. Fifer, Klyver, Kitzel,
Sterling Coalman,' Frank Taylor and
the hostess, Rehineier.
Very delicious refn?shments were
served at the close of the afternoon.
Makes Trip to Savannah
Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Anderson, of
Havelock, took Mm. Anderson's
mother. Mrs. Elmer Bennett to
Savannah, Missouri, Saturday morn
ing. Mrs. Bennett went back to
consult her doctor as f;he feared that
Fhe might have to remain for treat
ments, but that was not necessary,
and the group returned home Sat
urday evening. Mrs. Earl Bennett
accompanied them.
Entertains Club
Mr3. Harold Nickel was hostess to
the "So and Sews" club at her home
Wednesday afternoon. Club members
and guests enjoyed a pleasant after
noon. Mesdames Hardnock, Mark
Nickel, Rouse, Ayres and Ellis
Mickle were the gues'.s present.
Delicious refreshments were serv
ed by the hostess.
Aid Society to Meet
The hostess group, Mesdames W.
L. Copple, Hardnock, Frank Ed
wards and Albert Swanson will en
tertain the Aid Society members at
the home of Mrs. W. L. Copple Wed
nesday afternoon, February 1. This
is the regular February meeting
date. Members are urged to attend.

Members of the Bryan Methodist
choir of Lincoln were gnest enter
tainers at the local church Sunday
evening. The choir sang very beau
tifully and the program was greatly
enjoyed.
Maurine and Dan Brobst, former
Alvo young folks were among the
choir.
Mesdames Borneme er, Charles Fid
wards, Copple and A. B. Stroemer
served the group with refreshments,
which greatly please! them.

their dates that are to appear in

Jan. 31 Nebraska City basket
ball team plays Plattsmouth high
school on the local floor.
Feb. 3 The basketball game be
tween the Nebraska School for the
Deaf and Plattsmouth high school,
which will be played at Omaha.
Feb. 7 The Auburn basketball
team plays Plattsmouth high school
here.
Feb. 10 The local basketball team
will battle with the Ashland team
here.
Feb. 15 The musical department
of the Plattsmouth high school will
hold a music contest. This is known
as the elimination contest.
Feb 17 The basketball teams of
Blair high school and Plattsmouth
high school will face each other In
Plattsmouth.
Feb. 24 The hardest battle In
a basketball game will be fought
at Wahoo when Plattsmouth high
school and Wahoo meet.
Feb. 28 The local declamatory
contest under the direction of Lumir
Gerner will be held at the Platts
mouth high school auditorium at 8
p. m.
March 2 The A and B district
basketball tournaments will be held.
March 3 Tarkio speech tourna
ment.
March 8, 9, 10 The state basket
ball tournament will be held.
March 13, 14 The sectional de
clamatory contest and a one-act play
will be given at the Plattsmouth
high school.

tournament will be held.

tory and one-act plays contest will
be staged in the local high school.

one-act play contests will be held.

test and teachers' examination will

be given that evening at 8 p. m., at
the Plattsmouth high school audi
torium. May 5 Junior high students will
sponsor a musi-cal program.
May 6 The annual Junior-Senior
banquet will take place at American
Legion hall.
May 12, 13 State teachers meet.
VISIT AT HOSPITAL
Mr. and Mrs. James Bridgewater
were in Omaha Friday where they
went to see Mr. Bridgewater's bro
ther, John Bridgewater who Is a pa
tient at the University hospital. Mr.
Bridgewater Is a sufferer of heart
disease and has been III for the past
two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Bridge
water found the brother slightly im
proved and resting well.

EECEIVE NEWS OF DEATH
The news of the death of John
Wesley Risser, 74, which occurred
on Tuesday at Lake Worth, Florida,
has been received here by relatives.
Mr. Risser was a cousin of C. E.
Cook, Mrs. Caroline Cole and Joseph
Cook, of this city and John Cook of
Beaver City.
Mr. Risser, who was a Cincinnati,
Ohio, manufacturer, has made his
home in the winter season in Flor
ida and where he was taken ill.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs.
Bessie Risser and several sons by a
former marriage.
The funeral and interment was at
Lake Worth.
VISIT AT DENVER
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Menden
hall departed Friday afternoon for
Denver where they will visit over
the week end there with friends and
take in the many places of Interest.
