Next Tuesday, October 18, the Cass County Council of Christian Educa tion will convene in its 38th annual session at the United Brethren church at Mynard. The program begins at 9: 45 in the morning with a musical prelude and continues throughout, the day and evening, with a splendidly balanced offering of helpful, inspiring talks and 'discussions, and uplifting music both congregational singing and solo and group numbers. Miss Elsie Wik, state secretary of Sunday school work, is the featured speaker for the day sessions, appear ing at 10:30 in the. morning and at 3: 30. in the afternoon. Miss Wik will be new to conventioners this year, having taken over the work . which was carried on so many years by Rev. John C. White, who has accepted a pastorate : In" the ' eastern . United States. ' - . Also, appearing on the daytime pro grams are Attorney C. A. Rawls, a past president of the association, and Prof. Milo Price, history instructor in the Plattsmouth high school. In addition to these speeches and the music features, a time has been set aside for group discussions. These groups will be led by the Revs. Mc Clsky, Schwab, Weber and Callo way. Group singing will be directed by Rev. Paul Dick, host pastor. The ladies of the Mynard aid so ciety are preparing to care for the physical needs of. the group in an efficient and pleasing manner. Both dinner and supper will be served in the church basement. Every effort is being made locally to the end that Mynard may be fully prepared to make its guests feel the sincerity of the welcome the com munity is offering on this occasion. JOLLY WORKERS CLUB On Friday the Jolly Workers club held their meetin gat the homa of Mrs. Fred Jiuechler. This being the birthday of the hostess, each member presented her with' a lovely towel. After the business. meeting was held, the ladies enjoyed several games of pinochle. In the playing first prize went to Helen Meisinger, second to Emma Kaffenberger, third to Adelia Meisinger. Mrs. Buechler served a delicious lunch. COSOSOOOSOSCOOOOSOSOOOCOSf CHIEF BACK ON JOB Chief of Police William Barclay, who has been taking a short treat ment and rest in the past two weeks, was back on the job Sunday and at tending to the day patrol of the busi ness section of the city. The chief is feeling much better and ready to carry on as usual. VISITS AT SURPRISE From Monday's Dally -Sam Barrett- left yesterday for surprise where he will spend the week attending to business matters and visiting with old friends.
