Kerr have re turned from a trip into the south where they visited relatives and friends at Galveston and Houston They report a very pleasant time spent in visiting, swimming, fishing, crabbing, and picnicking. Very in teresting to them was the wonderful monument being built at San Jacinta, where Texas independence from Mex ico was won. On their return trip they came through the Kiamichi mountains in Oklahoma and the Boston and Ozark ranges in Arkansas and the national forest reserves, enjoying the beauti ful scenery through this country. While in the eouth they also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Davis, old residents of Plattsmouth. In spite of the auto accident on their way south, they had a fine trip and enjoyed their visit immense FINDS SISTER BETTER f Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Sharpnack and Jerry, were at Lincoln Sunday to visit with the relatives of Mr. Sharp nack, particularly Mrs. Guy Harris,' who has been ill for some time. They were pleased to find the sister some better and showing improvement. On their return Carol Harris accom panied her uncle and aunt here for a visit. LOCAL PLAYERS HONORED The selection of the be3t players in t'e 193S season of American Le gion Junior baseball, finds two of the Plattsmouth players selected for honorable mention among the excel lent players of the state. The first team winners are picked from the final contenders in the tournament. The Plattsmouth players who were mentioned were Stuart Sedlak, pitch er and James Jones, catcher of the team, both of whom have had a fine record this season in their playing. SELECT CHURCH OFFICERS The congregation of the Eight Mile Grove Lutheran church at their meet ing this week, re-elected the officers of the church council who have served so well in their offices for the past year. The officers selected were: August Iveil. secretary: Clarence Engelke- meier. treasurer: George Stoehr. J. C. Meisiuger and Herman Hennings, elders. VISITS AT WAHOO County Attorney J. A. Cap well was a visitor at Wahoo Monday where he spent the day visiting with relatives and meeting many oj ihe old friends in professional and business lines in Wahoo. Mrs. Capwell has been visit ing with her relatives since the last of the week and returned home with Mr- Capwell. They found fche crops from Fort Crook on west excellent and in the east section of Saunders county and everyone encouraged by the rain. RESIGNS FROM SCHOOL FOOT IS IMPROVING Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hild and family were in the city Saturday to look after some trading and visit ing with friends. Mr. Hild i3 still getting around with the use of a crutch as the result of an accident that he sustained at the farm a week ago. A large piece of iron was drop ped on the right foot, injuring the toe very severely and bruising the whole side of the foot. MOTOR TO MISSOURI ANNOUNCES MARRIAGE Mrs. Helena Meisinger announces the secret marriage of her son, Mar ion, to Marijane Long on June 17, 193S. Miss Lois Erandhorst, teacher of art in the local schools, has resign ed her position here to accept one at Johnstown, Colorado, at a much more pleasing advancement. Miss Brandhorst, who has taught here for the past two years, resides at Mil ford, and during her service here has been one of the popular members of the faculty of the school. She will teach art and music in the Johns town schools. RETURN FROM YELLOWSTONE Mr. and Mrs. flay Misner have just returned from a vacation trip in Wyoming. They spent two weeks visiting at Yellowstone Park and with Mrs. Misner's sister, Mrs. Charles Durkee and family at Cheyenne. They enjoyed completely their stay at Yel lowstone Park and tcok many pic tures to keep the delightful trip fresh in their memory. Mrs. Frank A. Cloidt and daugh ters, Miss Maxine and Miss Frances. are at Columbia, Missouri, where they are visiting with friends. They will also look over Stephens college, one of the leading finishing schools for young ladies in the west. Miss Maxine is a graduate there and Miss Frances planning to enter this fall. DOING A GOOD WORK The meh of the congregation of the Eight Mile Grove Lutheran church are doing a nice piece of work at the church building in water proofing around the church building by ditching and -also are waterproof ing by paint. UNDERGOES TONSILECTOMY Ruddy McMaken underwent a ton silectomy Monday at the office of Dr. O. C. Hudson. He came through the operation fine and is getting along very well. Ofe de parted Sunday for Lake Lido, Minne sota, where they will spend a vaca tion period in the cool of the lake country.
