A jury in district court at Glen
wood has decided that the death of
Charles Dykes, former Plattsmouth
man, last March, was the result of a
traffic accident that he suffered a few
days before his death.
The jury awarded to Mrs. Thelma
Dykes, widow, the full amount of
the $300 policy carried by the de
ceased in the Washington National
Life Insurance company, together
with interest.
The insurance company contended
that the death was not the result of
the accident. According to the testi
mony Mr. Dykes had stopped his
truck on the highway and was tinker
ing with it when the brakes failed to
hold and the truck started down a
hill. He jumped in the truck and it
later crashed against a stump. Two
days later Mr. Dykes suffered a heart
attack and died. The plaintiff al
leged that death was due to the
shock he suffered in the accident.

FIND STOLEN REGISTER
The cash register that was stolen
from the office of the Plattsmouth
Feed Center Sunday, was discovered
late Monday afternoon. The register
had been abandoned along the road
near the Albert Timmas place, three
miles south of the city and along the
Missouri river. The party taking the
register selected a place well off the
general line of travel to abandon it.

GONE
Gone are the days of the old
fashioned grocery store where
merchants climbed over every
thing from vinegar barrels to
cracker boxes in filling a custo
mer's order. Clean, modern meth
ods of food selling are now re
quired, and there is NO BETTER
example of a good place to buy
your foodstuffs than at our store
opposite the South Omaha post
office. Try our store next.
FARMERS
We pay you cash for good fresh
country eggs, and you can buy
your groceries where you like,
although you can, of course, do
better here. We want good eggs
laid by happy hens that won't
ruin cakes or customers' disposi
tions. This is NOT a chain store,
We are home-owned, independent,
and appreciate your trade and
your friendship.
