The message was received here Sun day of the death of Mrs. Mary Ow lngs, a pioneer resident of the Mur ray community, which occurred Sat urday at her home in Oak Grove, Mis souri. Mrs. Owings was in her eighties and has made her home in Missouri for many years. She was a sister of the late William and Robert Nickles of near Murray and aunt of Miss Etta, Lee Nickles and Mrs. Fan nie Crosser of this city and George E. Nickles of Murray. FUNERAL OF AGED MAN The funeral services of Peter Pres ton Curtis, former resident of the vicinity of Union, was held Tuesday at the Streight funeral home on Oak stieet. Rev. Paul Dick, of the United Brethern church at Mynarn, conduct ed the services. The interment was at Oak llill cemetery. GIVES FINE TALK 'The audience nt the Laymen's Forum or the First Methodist church, had a yery fine treat afforded them Sunday night when Colonel Stanley L. James. U.S.A.. was ' the guest speaker. Col. James gave many very interesting stories of the army life and his experiences in the line of service that were very much enjoyed. He also read the farewell address of General George Washington to the continental army. RESUMES DUTIES From Monday's Dally Officer David PIckrell, who has been off duty for several weeks due to illness, last night took up his work as a member of the night force. Officer PIckrell is. feeling very well now and hopes to be able to carry on hia work as usual. WILL ENJOY HOLIDAY From Wednesday's Daily -Mr. and Mrs. II. A. Schneider de parted this morning for St. Edward. Nebraska, where they will visit their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Burdic and family. Thursday Mr. and Mrs. Schneider and the Burdic family will be guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdic at Norfolk. DEPART FOR SOUTH Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Berggrenn, who have been here visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Ofe, de parted this week for San Antonio, Texas, where Mr. Berggrenn will' be stationed at Fort Sam Houston. He Is completing his twenty-first year In the U.
