ty today, visiting with Miss Jackson
of the state departmetn of instruc
tion, the standardized schools of the
county. Miss Jackson is the inspector
of this class of schools and which in
Cass county comprise the Manley.

From Tuesday's Daily
The announcement was made today
by Miss Mary Ann Highfield of this
city and Mr. Gilbert H. Hirz, of Om
aha, of their marriage which took
place on July 21 at Tekamah, Ne
braska. The wedding ceremony was wit
nessed by Miss Kathryn Hirz, sister
of the groom and Mr. Willard Mc
Shane, of Louisville.
The fact of the wedding had been
kept a secret by the young people un
til the announcement to the friends
of the happy event.
Both of the young people have
grown up in this community and are
among the best known and popular
members of the younger set of the
city.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Highfield and was
graduated from the local schools in
the 1937 class.
The groom Is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Phillip Hirz and while in school
here was one of the outstanding mem
bers of the athletic department of
the school, graduating in the class of
1931.
Mr. Hirz is working as manager of
the Smith grocery in Dundee. The
young people plan to make their home
in Omaha.
VISIT WITH EROTHER
Mrs. A. G. Bach and sister, Mrs.
E. B. Vrobril, of Omaha, returned
Tuesday from a visit of several days
in Chicago. They visited their bro
ther, R. A. Barry, who is in a hos
pital where he has been the past year
and has underwent the amputation of
a lower limb.
