When his outlook ahead shows a dark, drear scope As he conjures up chimeras grim. That he battles with fortitude, cour age and hope, And defends with an all potent vim. The phantom that ere now had ob scured his view Takes flight and soon fades from his sight; And leaves him to take up his jour uey anew On a pathway all cheerful and bright. So the man who can tackle the prob lems of life And conquer, hands down, in the ring, Is the man who smiles in the uneven strife And the man whose prowess I sing.
