Drilling of a new hole at the Forster oil and gas test well, southwest of here, started Wed nesday after the rig was skidded twenty-five feet west of the original hole. Decision to start the new hole was made after three bits were brok en in the original hole, which was down 1,285 feet after sporadic work over a fire months period. MONETARY STOCKS RISE "Washington. Monetary stocks of the United States reached an all-time high of $15,489,276,690 at the end of September as a result of huge gold and silver importations, the treasury reported. War abroad has sent con siderable capital to the United States recently for safety. INSURANCE PLAN EXPLAINED Omaha, October 12. The low cost hospital service insurance plan in augurated by the associated hospital service of New York was outlined at the convention of the central associa tion of obstetricians and gynecolo gists by Dr. Walter T. Dannreuther of New York City. Doctor Dannreuther told in detail how the plan operated through a group-insurance system at a cost of 3 cents a day. The Cass County School Men's club of the county have enjoyed their first meeting of the year at Nehawka where they were the guests of Super intendent Stimbert, past president of the organization. The business session was taken up with the election. of officers for the year and the following were chosen: President Superintendent Warren of Greenwood. Secretary-Treasurer Supt. P. T. Johnson of Murdock. The coaches of the county also met and arranged for the annual county basketball tournament which will be held February 12th to 15th inclusive at Elmwood. Following the business session the members of the party enjoyed the very delightful luncheon that was prepared and served by the members of the home economics class of the Nehawka school. Banquet to Feature Fall Season Here Decide to Hold Event for King Korn Klub in the Early Part of November. MINE0LA COUPLE INDICTED Mineola, N. Y. The Nassau coun ty grand Jury in a surprise move In dicted both Mrs. Ruth Creighton and Everett Applegate for first degree murder in the poison slaying of Ap- plegate's wife, Ada'. They were im mediately arraigned and pleaded innocent. The grand jury heard more than ?0 witnesses in the' short time it had been In session since it wac convened for the regular October term Friday morning. Martin W. Littleton, district at torney, had previously announced Mrs. Crelghtno had made full con fession to the slaying, exonerating Applgate and that the man was be ing held only as a material witness in connection with his wife's death. However, he was also held on a harge of criminally assaulting 15 ear old Ruth Creighton, daughter f the accused woman: ROYAL NEIGHBORS ELECT York, Neb. Other new of ficers are Mrs. Annie Allen of Waco, vice oracle; Mrs. M. Ferris of Shelby, chancellor; and Mrs. Myrtle Fair brother of Seward, recorder. TWO BROTHERS DEAD Falls City. O. J. Sailors, 51, of Barada, died Thursday of a heart ail ment thirty-two hours after his bro ther, Robert Sailors, about 53, died at Palisade, Neb., of diabetes. Both were natives of Richardson county. The members of the King Korn Klub at their luncheon on Wednes day, decided to hold a banquet in November of the celebration of the very successful fall festival that was held here September 18th to 21st. The banquet will also feature mo tion pictures of the parades held on the several days, the public wedding and the coronation of the king and queen of the Korn .tuud wnicn was the climax of the first day of the festival. These pictures were taken by E. J. Weyrich, local photographic expert and will make a wonderful history of the activities of the fall festival of this year and the previous years as Mr. Weyrich has preserved these motion picture films. There is some discussion as to the holding of a coronation ball to honor King Harry L. Gayer and Queen Lois Troop, but the plans for this are not fully completed and the decision will be announced later as to this event which should be a most colorful fea ture of the fall social season. October 11. Hog cholera is spreading rapidly In a number of communities in Madison county, the outbreak being the worst since the fall of 1926, when the disease claim ed the lives of hundreds of hogs in northeast Nebraska. Dr. C. E. Larsen, Tilden, reported more than forty cases in his territory and Dr. C. H. Baer, Norfolk, said there were quite a few cases in com munities around this city. Both vet erinarians said that the disease was spreading. The cholera outbreak is credited to the fact that hog raisers in recent years have done less vaccinating than before. 49 EIS0N UP FOR SALE Washington. Bids will bo open ed Oct. 21. $25,000 DAMAGE SUIT FILED Beatrice. Clarence Rice of Odell, and the Nebraska department of pub lic works are the defendants in a $25,000 damage suit filed in district court here Wednesday. The action was filed by Charles Dlxson, administrator of the estate of John Dixson, a state highway patrol man who was killed while on duty in October, 1931. Rice was charged with negligence and reckless driving, and the depart ment of public works was named in the case because a compensation award was made to the estate. WEATHERS DEPRESSION Tulsa, Okl. War rant Officer M. M. Cohn, now on duty in the Panama canal zone is being transferred to the Fort Crook post .Twenty-six years ago, Joseph Gar cia, present leader of the Fort Crook band, joined the United States army at Fort Sam Houston. Tex. Son of Spanish and Italian stagefolk, he had remained true to his artistic heritage by studying music. He received a sound musical edu cation in Europe, played the oboe with an Italian opera company and returned to the United States, where at 16, he Joined the army. The years brought him honor. He composed many band pieces, played in Mamroch's orchestra, and achieved a reputation as composer, band-or ganizer, director. He served as a lieutenant in the world war. For seven years he was stationed in Hawaii. Two of his eight chil dren were born there. Three years ago he was transferred from Hawaii to Fort Crook. Under Garcia's lead ership the 17th infantry band grew in size and reputation. JUNIOR DRUM CORPS AT ASHLAND Fiom Saturday' Daily: Among the attractions at the Ash land "Stir-Up" yesterday was a con test between drum corps from this section of the state. The American Legion's Junior corps of Plattsmouth was entered in the competition and left here at noon yesterday in a truck, arriving there in time for the early afternoon parade and the later com petitive drills. The corps was in charge of James Farnham, assistant to C. A. Marshall, regular director, who was unable to go. As a result of their appearance, the corps was awarded $25 in prize mon ey, which will provide a part of the cost of equipment and contemplated new uniforms for the corps. Visitors at the "Stir-Up" say the boys from here made a splendid show ing and were complimented and ap plauded for the splendid drill they put on in the late afternoon.
