Nehaw lis. r David West was a visitor in Om iaha last Monday morning and in the afternoon was looking after some business in Lincoln. Dr. G. H. Gilmore was a visitor in Nehawka Monday of this week, and was a caller on his friend, Dr. Henry yv. Walters while here. Herbert Kuntz, the blacksmith, was in Murray to the sale and made the purchase of some things neces sary for his blacksmith shop. Mesdanies W. O. Troop and daugh ter, Mrs. Wm. Gorder, were in Om tha last Friday looking after some shoping and visiting with friends. Charles Bates has completed the thereshing of his wheat and found the yield for the crop to be thirty bushels to the acre which is a very fair yield. Paul Dean who has been visiting for some time at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cole where he has enjoyed a very fine time, returned home Sun day from Weeping Water. Little Dorothy Dean who has been visiting for the past three weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Wiles, returned last Monday after enjoying a very pleasant visit. W. O. Troop was having his threshing done Tuesday of this week, and was getting the annual work off his hands. Charles R. Troop was also down assisting the brother in the work. Mrs. John Opp who was brought home some 'time ago from the hospital is now showing improvement, altho her advancement is not so rapid, it is hoped that it will be of a per manent character. Robert Wunderlich has had a thumb which became infected and has been causing this gentleman a great deal of pain. He had the mem ber lanced last Monday which has relieved it somewhat. Lee Creamer who has been rather poorly and had been kept at home on that account is feeling better at this time and now going after the work again rough shot and trying to catch up with the various jobs again. Parr Young and family were in Weeping Water last Friday attend ing tne funeral of the little seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrensen who was drowned at the swimming resort at Louisville last week. Henry Ross who has devoted agood deal of space to the growing of wheat having some 160 acres of the cereal in cultivation is now getting well along with the harvesting and thresh ing, having nine men employed in the work. I.Irs. Charles Ballardton of Kansas City was a visitor in Nehawka for the past few days, to spend the week with the husband who is employed with the stone interests in Nehawka. She returned to their home in the south later. Miller Christensen and wife, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Cisney, Frank Mar ley and family, Eugene Nutzman and family and a number of others from north and west of Nehawka were in Louisville last Sunday attending the American Legion picnic. Mr. and Mrs. Enos Plunkett of Weeping Water, were In. Nehawka last Sunday, guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Opp, coming to see Mrs. Opp, who has been poorly for some time. On their return they were accompanied by Donald Opp who is visiting there for some time. Lester Dill completed the thresh ing of his oats and wheat last week and was pleased with the yield, the wheat making 34 bushels while the oats yielded 55 bushels the acre With all the small yields it is re freshing to have some which are really paying for the occupation of the soil. Ray Chrwiswisser has been assist ing in the combining of the wheat of Granville Hcebner which had been left a little late and which during the time which Granville has been busy with other combining has grown some green stuff among the wheat which caused some trouble in getting the combining done. However most of the work of harvesting i3 now- over and much of the threshing, al tho the farmers as a general thing are still extremely busy. Eat Dinner Together. Stewart Rough has been enjoying the company and help of his daugh ter, Mrs. Ben Benson and the family, and also Mrs. D. II. Wilson and the family dropped in from Alton, Illin ois where they make their home and with the family of Martin Ross.. A. D. Rough of Lincoln, Guy Lake and wife, al&o of Lincoln and Miss Agnes Rough of Weeping Water made the company a most congenial one and all enjoyed the very fine time which was had. Enjoy Fine Visit. Henry Wessell and wife wvre the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. - T. J. Howard Davis Attorney at Law Plattsmouih Schlictemeier on last Sunday after noon aid evening where they enjoy ed a very fine visit and were enter tained by the host and hostess who also had as their guests Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Murdoch, they being guests be fore the departure of their daugh ter and husband Mr. and Mrs. Sen Waunell who have been visiting here for some time and who are departing for their home in Oklahoma where Mr. Waunell is teacher in the schools of that place. They however are stop ping in Kansas for a visit with his folks for a few weeks before return ing to their work. WiU See the West. Miss Lois Troop and her niece Avis Troop departed for Paxton where Earl Troop has been and is still em ployed where they are visiting for a time with him, Earl being father of Avis. Following this in company with Mr. Troop they will continue on to the mountains where they will visit for a short time and enjoy the mountain air and the magnificent scenery. Many Attend Legion Picnic. There was a large number of the members of the American Legion post of Nehawka w ho were over to Louis ville to atend the picnic which was held there last Sunday. There were all kinds of amusement and notwith standing the very warm day there was a good time and very large num ber from over the county in attend ance. District Commander W. H. Kruger was very- active in the get ting the various members to attend. It is desired to make this an annual affair. Scout Troop to Visit West. The Scout troop which is under the direction of Scoutmaster C. E. Stim bert of the Nehawka schools, with the Nehawka school bus which will be fitted for the trip and will hold comfortably some fifteen members of the troop, will depart from Nehawk?. for the west on August 6th for a three weeks visit, and plan to visit Estes Park and many of the very in teresting places of the west and see the mountains and much of the mag nificent scenery. Makes Trip North. Guy Rood and family of Burr, de parted last Monday for Pierre, South Dakota, where Mr. Nels Anderson owns land ana wmch has a large acreage in wheat. The harvest is ready and Mr. Rood goes to see the harvesting and threshing done and the grain sold and to make arrange ments for the seeding of the land for the coming year. He was accompanied by his wife and daughter, Cartaleen. They are expecting to be away for ten days or more. New Quarry Opened Here. The Tobin people have opened a new quarry here, and have arranged for the running of a spur track to the new quarry which will elimin ate much of the work in handling the stone. United Erethren in Christ Rev. Otto Engebretson. NEHAWKA CHURCH Bible church school 10 a. m. Evening Gospel service at 8. Mid-week prayer and praise ser vice Wednesday evening at 8. The Woman's Society meets on Wednesday, August 7th, with Mrs Waldo. We held our evening service on the cnurch lawn Sunday evening. This war, greatly enjoyed by all in attend ance. OTTERBEIN CHURCH Bible church school 10 a. m. Morning worship service at 11. The choir and orchestra will start their rehearsal for their program and broadcast to be given soon. Prayer and praise meeting Thurs day evening. On Sunday, August 11th we are urging all members to be present for a special service. Let us have a hun dred percent response to roll call on that day. Let us praise and thank God for the harvest we are receiv ing RECEIVES FINE From Tuesday's Dally This morning in the court of Judge C. L. Graves, Andy Jorgensen was arraigned on a charge of intoxi cation and to which he entered a plea of guilty. Mr. Jorgensen was arrested late Monday night by Chief of Police Libershal and Deputy Sher iff Thomas Walling and lodged In the city jail. After the trial this morn ing he was given a fine of 520 and cccts for the offense. EAGLE B ITE1S Genevieve Gerd or cook made a short visit with friends in Eagle on Thursday. Mrs. Milford Axe and children of Lincoln spent Tuesday of this week at the L. W. Piersol home. Mrs. Spencer Thomas and son of Trenton called Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Jones. Miss Josephine Tinker of Omaha was the guest of Miss Lois Gardner the latter part of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Wright Gillette and son of Lincoln visited with Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Longman on Sunday. Mrs. George Trimble and Merna Stradley spent Monday and Tuesday of this week at the Carl Oberle hcXie Mr. and Mrs. Fred Klietsch came out from Lincoln last Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Jones and Jack. Mrs. Anna Bennett of Alvo came Wednesday and visited several days with her aunt, Mrs. S. E. Allen and Mrs. R. B. Morgan. Herbert Oberle, who recently had an appendicitis operation at the Lin coln General hospital, was able to re turn home on Monday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thomson of Palmyra and Mrs. Karoline Spahnle were entertained Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Wall and daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Peterson, Mr and Mrs. Chas. Trumble and Mr. and Mrs. Will Hursh spent a very enjoy able wek-end at Reitterville cabin south of Milford near the Blue river. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Piersol had as their guests on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Harry Piersol and son and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Piersol and family of Lincoln and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scattergood and daughters. Mesdames McFall, Clyde West, Jack and Robertson attended an all day W. C. T. U. meeting in Lincoln at the St. Paul church on Friday. Some very interesting addresses were given by national W. C. T. U. lead ers. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Kildee moved Tuesday of this week to West Point where Mr. Kildee will begin his duties August 1st in connection with the Vocational Agriculture work prior to the opening of school. Mr. Clarence Slosson has been hired tc take Mr. Kildee's place as the agri culture instructor in the schools here. Miscellaneous Shower. In prenuptial courtesy to Miss Thelma Price, the Misses Melva and Pauline Wall entertained twenty guests at a miscellaneous shower in the Methodist church parlors on the afternoon of July 25th. Many individual and contest games were enjoyed, the groom s group winning the greater number. A mo tif of yellow- and white was carried out in the decorations. The honoree found her gifts by following the di rections placed in colored balloons, which were also a part of the decor ations. The guests were seated at a long table and refreshments of ice cream, cake and punch were served. Birthday Dinner. Honoring Mr. E. P. Betts for his GSth birthday, which occurred July 30th, Mrs. A. W. Adams gave a din ner at her home last Sunday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jacobsen, and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Westlake and Clarence of Eagle, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Jacobsen of Walton, Miss Leona McBride, Max Jordan, and Charles Morris of Lin coln. Eagle M. E. Church Notes. D. J. Schuyleman, pastor; G. H. Palmer, S. S. Supt. 9:30 Sunday school hour. Please note the change in time for Sunday school. This i3 done to enable us to dismiss half an hour early so that we can attend Assembly Sunday at Ep- worth Park. Picnic Dinner Each family will come to Sunday school with a picnic dinner and then after Sunday school we shall all go together to Epworth Lake Park. See Mrs. C. West for de tails. There will be no choir practice this week. Epworth League We will co-operate with the Epworth Assembly and will dismiss our regular league to meet with the large league at Ep worth Lake park. A number of our young people had a fine time at the park last Sunday aftnoon and even ing. Come and let us enjoy that fel lowship again. Note that Sunday school hour is 9:20! Price-Welton. Miss Thelma Price, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Price became the bride of Houston Welton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Welton of Green wood Friday evening, July 26th at Red Cloud where they will reside. The bride has spent her entire life here and was graduated from the Eagle Consolidated schools with the class of '34. (The groom also is known to many in this community, Best wishes are extended to this young couple. . 4-H Club Meets. Miss Betty Kendle was hostess to the Yum Yum cooking club on Thursday afternoon, July 25th. During the afternoon meeting each one gave a report on the cookies and muffins they had made. Following refreshments of ice cream, punch and cake wa3 served by the hostess and Merna Stradley. Mrs. George Trim ble and Virginia Trimble were wel come visitors. The next meeting will be with Pearl Norris, August 8th. MERNA STRADLEY, News Reporter. RETURN FROM FISHING TRIP A party of Plattsmouth residents enjoyed a real fishing trip on Mon day evening along the Platte river northwest of this city and which re sulted in some twenty-four catfisn being garnered by the party. The chief of the fishing party was Emmons Ptak who directed the cast ing and hauling in of the fish that were brought forth from the Platte, who found a ready response from the veteran fishermen, Jess Warga. Emery Doody, Gus Weiss and James Quinnette. The party had a large shipment of lunch and which they disposed of by appetites whetted by the breezes from the Platte river. Early Tuesday morning the party gathered up their lost articles and returned on to their homes. NOTICE OF PROBATE In the County Court of Cass coun ty, Nebraska. J To all persons interested in the Estate of Walter W. Street, deceased, both creditors and heirs at law: You are hereby notified that on the 11th day of July, 1935, Hattie E. Street, the Executrix of the Last Will and Testament of Walter W. Street, deceased, filed a petition in this Court alleging that said Walter W. Street departed this life in Kings County, State of Washington, on the 31st day of January, 1933, leaving a Last Will and Testament which was duly prov ed, allowed and admitted to probate in the Superior Court of Kings Coun ty, in the State of Washington, on the 1st day cf May, 1933, by a Decree of said Court entered therein, and a duly authenticated copy of said instrument with the Decree in Probate thereof in said Superior Court of Kings County, Washington, is presented for probate in this Court. Said petition also alleges that said Walter W. Street was also known as Walter Winfred Street, and left him surviving as his sole and only heirs at law, and the only persons interest ed in his estate, his widow and three children, who are all now of legal age and whose names and places of resi dence are as follows: Hattie E. Street, his widow; M. Josephine Street, daughter; Harold W. Street, a son, and Mer rill W. Street, a son, and all residing at Seattle, in the State of Washington; and that said decedent, under the name of Walter Winfred Street, died seized and pos sessed of the legal title in fee simple to real estate situate in the State of Nebraska, described as follows, to- wit: The undivided one-half of Lot 4 in Block 10 in the City of Plattsmouth, in Cass county, Ne- i braska which wa3 devised by said Last Will and Testament to the petitioner here in, Hattie E. Street. That more than two years have now elapsed since the death of said decedent, Walter W. Street, also known as Walter Winfred Street, and that by reason thereof a regular ad ministration of said estate In this! state be dispensed with as provided by law, and that said real estate be assigned, free from all debts of said decedent to the legatee named in said Will, if admitted to probate in this state, cr to the legal heir3 of said de cedent before named.
