The annual meeting of the Cass County chapter of the American Red Cross will be held on Friday after noon at 1:15 at the Congregational church at Weeping Water. The notice of the meeting received from the office of Mrs. H. A. Tool, secretary, at Murdock, Etates that the meeting will take up the reports cf the various departments of the so ciety and the plans for the year dis cussed as well as the business of the chapter discussed by the members. Branch officers and chapter repre sentatives are expected to attend this meeting and take part in the pro ceedings of the session. Information and instruction for undertakings of the chapter will be a part of the program of the meeting. MASS MEETING FRIDAY A great union mass meeting to launch the New Temperance Deal against New Deal liquor will be held in the Plattsmouth Methodist church Friday night. June 28. at 8:15. Dr. F. Scott McBride, of Washing ton. D. C, National Superintendent of the Anti-Saloon League of Amer ica, will speak on the national situ ation. After visiting 4G states in the last nine months, he has gather ed some startling figures as to the ef fect of liquor, and has had some won derful experiences of the revived temperance interest. He will discuss the bill introduced in congress by Senator Capper of Kansas, and the new temperance educational plans for the Youth Movement. Supt. R. P. Kutton, of the Nebras ka Anti-Saloon League, will give pointers on the new Nebraska liquor law and outline plans to take advan tage of them while leading up to t local option election in every town city and village in the state of Ne braska in April, 1937. and the at tempt to elect a legislature pledged to give local option on beer the same as on hard liquor. i if g Q 1 ii S3 11 ii H B y a r : U H if n H 0 rt y y DIES AT LINCOLN From Wednesdays Dally The message was received here late this morning of the death of Mrs. Margaret Emrick, of Lincoln, a resi dent of this city a great many years ago. Mrs. Emrick had not been in the best of health for some time. The deceased lady was formerly Miss Margaret Sexton, member of one of the old families here in the late seventies and early eighties. She has however made her home in Lincoln over a long period cf years. Mrs. Emrick was a sister of the late Mrs. W. T. Scotten and during the lifetime of the sister was a fre quent visitor in this city and is well known to the many old friends here. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Tearl Haberlain, of Lincoln. Miss Margaret Scotten of this city. is a niece. ATTENDING CONFERENCE A group of Plattsmouth youn ladies are at Camn Brewster this week to attend the annual confer ence sponsored by the Presbyterian church and in which the young ladies will take a course of study as well as a recreational program for the length of the conference. The conference i3 usually held at Bellevue, but owing to the fact that Bellevue college is leased it was necessary to transfer the meeting to Camp Brewster, well known recrea tional center. Those from this city to attend the meetings are Eleanor Minor, Jean Knorr, Mary Kathryn Wiles, Harriett G008, Frances Cloldt, Marjorle Ann Tidball.
