Death of Pio neer Resident of Old Rock Bluffs Alonzo Lacy Dies Saturday at Home in Omaha Was Schoolmate of Many Old Residents Here. Alonzo Lacy, well known to many early residents of this part of Cass county, passed away Saturday at his heme in Omaha, at the age of 79 years. Funeral services will be Tues day at 2:30 p. m., and interment In Torest Lawn cemetery in Omaha. Lon, as he was familiarly known, was a son of George AV. Lacy, one of (he pioneer settlers in the town of Rock Bluffs, and it was there that he was a pupil of the late Joseph D. Patterson in "Namoi Institute" in 1S71, and later was a pupil of the late Judge B. S. Ramsey, and a schoolmate of the younger Jones and Pattersons. He was married to Miss Kllen O. Graves of the pioneer fam ilies of Rock Bluffs, and later they located in Omaha where the wile passed away November 14, 1896. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Nlchol3, Mrs. James Watson and Mrs. O. II. Shelly, and one son, Maurice A. Lacy, all residing in Omaha. HERE FROM HASTINGS From Wednesday's Dally Mrs. Julius Nielsen of Hastings, Nebraska, was in the city today for a few hours attending to some business matters and looking after the resi dence property of the family in the south portion of the city. Mrs." Niel sen while here had the pleasure of visiting with a number' of the old time friends in the city. The daugh ter, Miss Charlotte, is now engaged in nurse training at Des Moines, Iowa, where she has been for some time. " ' : . i :'--' SMALL FIRE TODAY SHOWING IMPROVEMENT Miss Mary Annie Rosencrans, who is attending the University of Ne braska, has not been so well for the past several days and Sunday her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Rosen crans and son, Phillip, ' in company with Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Bates, mo tored to Lincoln to visit with Mary. They found her much improved and ready to resume her school work. RETURNS FROM HOSPITAL Edward Stewart, who has been at an Omaha hospital recovering from the effects of an operation for appen dicitis, has so far recovered that he was able to be brought back home Tuesday. The patient has" showed rapid progress and is feeling very much improved and it is hoped in a very short time he can resume his usual activities. . Cook Dies at Nebraska City Hospital DEATH OF OLD RESIDENT Aged Resident of This City Dies Mon day as Result of a Sudden At , tack of Pneumonia. From Tues.y's Da"v Last night at 10:30 r.o'oert C. Cook, one of the well known resi dents of thia city,, died at the St. Mary's hospital at Nebraska City, where he has been recovering from the effects of a broken limb. Mr. Ccok suffered, the . lracture of a leg on April 2nd and had been do ing very nicely with this affliction and well on the highway to recovery when he was stricken with an attack of bronchial pneumonia and gradu ally grew worse until death came to his relief. - The deceased was born- seventy-; eight years ago in Craig, Holt county, Missouri, and his lifetime was large ly spent there and in eastern Ne braska with the exception of fifteen years that ho spent in Kansas. He was married in 1879 at Craig, Mis souri, to Miss Mary Prather, who preceded him in death May 5, .1916. The father and family moved to Plattsmouth in the fall of 1910 and have since made their home in this community. Jle has made many friends who will share with the fam ily the regret that his passing has occasioned.. . There are surviving three sens and one daughter, E. A. Cook, of this city, Walter M. Cook, Volga, South Dakota, J. A. Cook of this city and Mrs. W. H. Dicks, of Lyman, Colorado. Two children, Charles and Mrs. Mina Wright have preceded the father in death. i The body was brought here to the Sattler - funeral home to await the funeral arrangements. " The inter ment will be at Mound City, IMssouri, where the wife is at rest. The death of Jesse Cilmore. a long time resident of Cass county, oc curred on Sunday at Hastings, with funeral services ": this afternoon at North Loup, Nebraska and interment at Silver Creek.' The k deceased has made his home at North Loup for the past several. years. Mr. Gilmore was a son of Raynard Gilmore and was born and reared in Cass county, the" family making their home in and near Weeping Water for a great many years. The father is St. making his home in this county. Mr. Gilmore was a brother of Mrs. John Cotner of this city, who with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Klinger. was in attendance at the last rites today at North Loup. CARS HAVE ACCIDENT Sheriff Homer aunaay evening ouei in g Sylvester and Deputy Sheriff Tomlg Walling were called to the vicinity m of Murray where an auto accident 0 yras reported near the Rock Creek filling station. It was found that a'H car of David Fox of Nebraska iCty had been run into by a car occu pied by William Dashus and Edward Ebert of Omaha. The officers brought IJashus and Ebert here and they were placed in jail to await the filing cf charges in the case. On the way into the city consid erable disturbance was created by the two men and Merle Long, who was driving the car for the officers re ceived a blow on the jaw from enc of the handcuffed prisoners. . Mr. and Mrs. Harry rcoyal of Lin coln were in the city Sunday where they vi3ited with Judge C. L. Graves, father of Mrs. Royal and who motor ed with them to Rock Bluffs, the old home of the G raves family for a visit there at the. Sherd Graves home for a few hours.
