Tragic Scenes Found as Bodies are Identified Eighty Unknown Victims of Vienna Figiiting Rest in the Hall of Dead. Vienna. In the eerie depths of a hall of dead lay eighty unidcntiled victims of cracking carbines, throaty l-.owitr.tr53 and purring machine guns which rumbled thru streets once fa mous for Danubian waltzes. The government does not know who they are. Some wear the clothes cf the labor er, while others the inform of thc roldier. Still others wear homemade dresses of Ihe housewife. Eighteen cf the victims have on school clothes, four of these being girls. We are standing near the morgue r.t the Vienna general hospital, where the bodies, r.re awaiting identifica tion. Here come fathers, mothers and sweethearts, hoping, praying and wringing their hands, or just look ing dazedly at row upon row of foodies. Tho government asked all persons whose relatives and f:iend3 are niins ing to visit the morgue. Outside a qiKue was forming indicating that hundreds have relative? or friends "missing." The line moved sdowly. No one talked. A couple joins the line. They cling to each other, t lie nails of her hand biting into his aim. She is dabbing her eyes and saying something hard to understand. CHARGE ROADKOUSE OWNER Falls City, Neb. County Attorney Palloon Frday charged Marguerite Banker with operating a place ci amusement without a license, as the result of a spectacular raid on the Maple club roadhatue near here by about a dozen officers. Approximately ninety persons were seized in the raid Sunday morning. Falloon said that under the statutes, each day the place operated consti tutes a separate effense and as a re sult he filed eighteen separate counts against her as proprietor cf the club. The penalty for conviction on sue!; offenses i? a line of not less than 10 and not mere than $30 tor each count. The county attorney said also that since the club was not oper ated according to the provisions of the state law, all persons who danced thefe on Sundays could be fined $20 each or he jailed for twenty days. Washington Industrial cities will retain their full quota of civil works employes until late in March, but elsewhere the disbandinc will move forward, with 400,000 workers to be dropped in rural areas next week. In outlining this course, Harry L. Hop kins, civil works administrator, said that while there might he variations to meet local condition.'-,, the demob ilization would proceed at the rate of about 10 percent a week. He add ed that rural an aa would he fir t dis banded because the p.nnt maj-jiity of such workfi;; were farm ens or farm woikcrs who would find work ut their regular occupations m the weather improved. Hopkins said tho "ect would be to make the heaviest demobilisation in the couth. The new regulations prepartd for tho next ten weeks pro vide: First, in dropping civil works em ployes, all persons living in a house hold where another member is work ing, whether on public or private em ployment, will be dir-misscd fir:;t. The hours of work for the prerent will remain at twenty four hours a week in the cities and fifteen hours in the lural areas. One of ihoze projects is the rebuilding of new con solidated rural tchcols in these -tates that have a consclldatcd cchcol "ys- tem. Determination to carry cut the de mobilization by May 1 was shown at the white hcuso, but President Jtooee velt indicated that it was too early yet to decide upon what plan would be used for next winter. Hopkins said the determination of a long range plan to care for situations such as arose during the depression was in the hands of the president. Hopkins said that all who needed relief after civil works ended would be given it. The president continue! confident that the great number of the 4 mil lion now on the civil works payrooll will be absorbed by a pickup in in dustry and agriculture and the pub lic works program by cummer time.
