Newberry, a teacher In the Denver city schools, who when a 'child resided in Plattsmouth, was here today to look over the once familiar scenes and to locate if pos sible any of the friends who were children in the past years. Miss New berry is a daughter of Judge J. C. Newberry, who was for a number of years located at Louisville as a notary public, later the family moving to Plattsmouth. Miss Newberry accom panied Mr. and . Mrs. L. J. Mayfield of Louisville to this city. While here she was able to locate a number of the once familiar scenes . altho the ac quaintances of her childhood are now nearing middle age. While here the Newberry family lived in a residence on the site .now occupied by the Knights of Columbus hall. From Monday's Daily Attorney C. E. Tefft of Weeping Water was a visitor in the city today to attend to some matters of business and visiting with friends. Mr. and Mrs. Cliarles E. Kartford departed Saturday for Kansas City, where they will visit for a few days with their son, Willis Hartford and family. NAMES ARE OMITTED In the list of those attending the J. M. Meisinger family reunion, ap pearing in the Journal Monday, the names of two families were omitted, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Meisinger and son. Merle Dean, and Mrs. Lorene Urish and sons, John and Virgil, who were in attendance at the pleasant gathering. " Mr. and Mrs. L. O. The annual reunion of the John Bock family was held Sunday, Aug. :20th at the beautiful country home of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Hansen. Here amid the pleasant surroundings the members of the family and a few in vited friends spent the day. Owing to the inclement weather, the bountious dinner was served in the spacious rooms of the home, in stead of under the trees as had been planned. The centerpiece of the din ner table was a stuffed roast pig, very beautifully garnished, this be ing prepared by Mrs. George Pollard At the- business session of the as sociation the following officers were re-elected: President Fred Hild, Murray. Aug. 25 W0BE ON RIFLE RANGE A force of local workers this morn ing started on the task of clearing up the V. S. rifle range north of this city, this being a part of the program for the use of federal relief funds to aid the unemployed". The workers will clean tip the grounds which has a large accumulation of debris and undergrowth that needs removing to add to the appearance of the range land its use for the' soldiers and train ing units that use the range. A great deal of wood has 'been accumulated on the land that is embraced in the military reservation and which can be used also for fuel for the unem ployed. There were quite a large number engaged in the wOTk and it will re quire some time Id 'get the range cleared up properly, but the task was taken up in an enthusiastic manner by the men who felt well pleased to be able to enjoy some real toil after months of enforced idleness. WISH TO ATTEND SCHOOL There have been many inquiries received at the high school relative to the opportunities of girls securing places where they might work for their room and board while they are attending high school. Principal R. P. Patterson has received a half dozen requests for places to work where the young girls are willing to assist in housework in order to assist them in attending school. Any per son who can care for students in this way for the fall and winter are urged to get in touch with Mr. Patterson at the high school as it will be a great aid to the young students.
