FIRST WARD PROGRAM
The pupils of the first ward under
the direction of Miss Helen Farley,
pave a program for their mothers
last Friday afternoon, December 9.
The work in the main consisted of
actual school work carried on by
the children. Mo.it of the program
was reading, but observation was
made of the art woik.

SANTA'S GIFTS
Santa Claus has just send word to
the committee that when he makes
his mysterious appearance in PlattS
inouth next Saturday morning about
10:30 he will have with him a bunch
of gift tickets which he will give
out to the kidilie3 immediately upon
his arrival at his headquarters in the
1 Masonic building. These gift tickets
will bo geed for a toy gift of some
sort not candy at some store in
town. Santa has made arrangements
with these stores and offices to take
care cf this for him. Be on hand by
10:30 next Saturday morning if you
want to participate in these free
gift3 from Santa. Santa will be on
hand at his headquarters until 11!

Miss Helen Wescott of this city,
whose marriage to Mr. Perry H. Mur
dick, Jr.. of Lincoln will take place
Christmas day. was honored at a
linen shower on Monday evening. The
shower was arranged by the active
and alumnae members of the Willard
sorority at the Wesleyan university
chapter house. Miss Wescott is a
graduate of Wesleyan and member of
the Willard chapter.
This evening Mr. and Mrs. George
E. Hager and -Miss Gwendolyn Hager,
are entertaining at dinner at Lincoln
for Hiss Wescott and Mr. Murdick.
Included among the guests will be
Mr. and Mrs. IZ. II. Wescott, par
ents of the bride-to-be and Dr. and
Mrs. P. H. Murditk, Sr., parents of
the groom.

From Tuesday's Dally
The announcement was made to
day of the marriage of Miss "Edith
Ledgway of this city to Mr. George
William Haase, of Harrison, Ne
braska, which occurred at David City,
Nebraska, on Tuesday, November
29th. The wedding had been kept a
secret from the relatives and closest
friends until today when the an
nouncement was made of the happy
event.
The bride is a daughter of John
Ledgway, Sr., of this city and where
she has grown to womanhood. She
has been engaged in the service of
the local exchange of the Lincoln
Telephone & Telegraph Co., and has
a very large circle of friends who
will learn with much pleasure of her
new happiness.
The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank C. Haase of Harrison. He has
been engaged in railroad work for
the past several years with the Bur
lington. He is a young man held in
high esteem by a large circle of
friends in the community where he
has made his home.
Mr. and Mrs. Haase will make their
home in Lincoln after January 19tb,
where the groom has the home await
ing the coming of his bride.
STORES TO KEEP OPEN
Tie stores of the city, affiliated
with the retail section of the Cham
ber of Commerce, will remain open
each evening, starting Wednesday
December 14th, for the convenience
of the patrons. The stores will con
tinue the night opening until after
the Christmas season.

DEATH OF MRS. J. V. SANS
Mrs. Joseph V. Sans, a resident cf
this city some twenty-five years ago,
passed away on Wednesday, Decem
ber 7th, at the family home at Ber
thoud, Colorado. The death of Mrs.
Sans occurred as the result of an at
tack of pneumonia from which she
had suffered several days. The mes-
