Mrs. Chandellor's husband is agent at their home in I Kansas for the Rock Island road. Word has been received from Cov ina. California, telling of an accident which befell John Keefer. He fell from a truck striking his head on the : pavement with such force that his skull was fractured. He has been In a California hospital for more than two weeks. The Woman's Reading club met With Mrs. Jackson on Thursday af ternoon. The club note books were a; ranged by the project club leader. The club will participate in the County Achievement program Thurs day afternoon. The club accepted an invitation from the Avoca club. Mrs. Sam Hardnock entertained at dinner Sunday in honor of the birth day of Mr. Hardnock. Guests were Mrs. Walter Hardnock and family of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Gerbe ling of Wabash. While here, she was a guest at the Ganz home. On Tuesday. Mrs. Cunningham in spected the schools at Oakland and Sioux City. Uncle Henry Thomas who was in Alvo for two weeks departed again for Plattsmouth where he will make his home at the county farm pre ferring to do this than to try and get along at the home here as he is getting well along and can hardly do the work which is necessary to cook for himself. Mr. and Mrs. George Braun of South Bend, were visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Yeager on Wednesday of last week, and enjoy ed the coming very nicely. H. Weichel, was going home, in her coupe, she met with an accf ('enf about two miles north of town. Miss Weichel had a vacuum cleaner in the car. which fell over while she was driving and the handle struek her a sharp blow on the head. While ' this was happening the car skidded off to the side of the road and ran into a barbed wire fence along th" td Bernemeier farm, being stepped by impact with a telephone post, wher. i it toppled over on its top in the ditch at the roadside. There was a practice teacher here I all that week. Her name was Miss Fay Hennings. j There has only been one person that hasn't missed a day nor been I tardy this year and she is Shirley 1 Teny berry. Miss Tritsch sent in the names of Carey Zimmerman. Ruth Alexen and iFred Terryberry to the National Bun Busters club. They each Joined the club and all got a Barberry pin. The school joined the Junicr Red iCross and the most of the children have signed the pledge and have their Bed Cross pins. To help the Bed Cross we helped the bunny color eggs for the children In the sta;e Ortho-' pedic hospital for Easter. We got a letter a few days later telling us how the children enjoyed them. The school is making posteis to send to the fair and to put on the walls. They still have the hot lunches as we planned on having, but will quit soon because it la gel tin;; warm. We were all shocked to 3 ear that our taachel had to be rut of school one and one-half days and three half days on account of illness. We are very happy now to think she can be ba: k with t ill day.
