In the passing of Mrs. John Klimm, well known resident of the vicinity of Avoca, the county has lost one of the old residents, who while not a pioneer in this section of Nebraska has made her home here for the past forty years. Mrs. Klimm was ill for some time and passed away on De cember 24th at 11 p. m at the farm home situated between Weep ing Water and Avoca. The deceased lady was born Aug ust 11, 1857, at Ostfriesland, Ger many, where she spent her younger years and where at the age of twen ty years, in June, 1877. she was united in marriage to John Klimm. The family continued to make their home in Germany until in the year 18S9 they came to the United States and first located in the state of Illi nois where a large number of their countrymen had already settled, but a short time later the family moved westward to the great state of Ne braska and settled in Cass county. In this community Mr. and Mrs. Klimm have since made their home and saw the struggles of the early day farmer and the steady advance ment of the community life in which they had played a part. The husband and father was called to the last rest in the year 1903. The wife and mother, widowed has lived to see her children all settled and at the close or a long and useful life was called to the last reward. The life of Mr. and Mrs. Klimm was blessed with nine children, one daughter dying at the age of thirteen years, and leaving surviving four sons and four daughters, Henry and John Klimm,; of Avoca, Mansa Klimm of Crofton, Nebraska, Tony Klimm of Platts mouth. Mrs. George Halmes of San Jose. California. Mrs. Charles Brauer of San Jose, Mrs. Len Austin of Union and Mrs. Jule Newmaster of Avoca. There are also thirteen grandchildren and four great grand children to mourn' the passing of this splendid lady. Mrs. Klimm was a life long mem ber of the German Lutheran church and her last services were conduct ed in that faith, the Rev. Victor Mocller of the St. John's church at Otoe, Nebraska, conducting the ser vices at the home and at the grave. At the services at the home a quartet composed of Mrs. A. Johnson, Mrs. Minnie Brendel, Mrs. D. Summer and Mrs. Walter Love, sang several of the loved hymns. Rev. Moeller sang as a tribute to this loved lady the German hymn, "Hame Meine Seele." The body was laid to rest in the Horning cemetery south of Platts-, mouth, beside that of the husband j and father. A loving motrer has laid down the cross of life which she carried back to Him who gave it to her, and now wears the crown that farfpth not awav. We find these these words a fitting tribute: Life's work all done, Life's race well run. Life's victory won Now cometh rest. Card of Thanks. We wish to thank all our friends and neighbors for their kindness shown during the illness and at the time of the death of our loved moth er, also for the beautiful floral trib utes, for the songs sang by the Avoca quartet and the comforting words of Rev. Moeller. We also wish to thank the men of the Lewiston Social Cir cle club for their services in pre paring the grave for our loved one. The Klimm Children.
