Capwell and oth ers for the appointment of Chas. L. Graves for Justice of Peace in Platts- j mouth City "to fill vacancy" caused by the death of Justice William Web jer. filed with the Board and the ap- Ipointment was made as requested. Official Bonds The official bond of Chas. L. Graves, Justice of. Peace for Platts mouth City was approved by the Board. The official bond of Fred Patterson; County Surveyor, was approved. The official bond of Ralph Mei singer, road overseer for Eight Mile Grove precinct, was approved by the Board. Resolution Whereas, a petition signed by more than 51 per cent of the resident free holders of Greenwood precinct, Cass county, Nebraska, was filed in the of fice of the County Clerk of Cass coun ty, Nebraska, on the 10th day of November, 1928, requesting the Board of County Commissioners of Cass county, Nebraska, to levy an as sessment for one year not to exceed 2.2 mills on the dollar upon the ac tual valuation of taxable property in said Greenwood precinct for the pur pose of improving the highway com mencing at the north limits of the Village of Alvo on the highway run ning between Sections 34 and 35, Township 11, Range 9. and extend ing north along said highway as the same runs between Sections 26 and 27, Sections 22 and 23, Sections 15 and 14, and Sections 3 and 2, all in Township 11, Range 9, Cass county, Nebraska, by placing gravel there on: and Whereas, the Register of Deeds of Cass county, Nebraska, has filed a statement with the County Clerk cer tifying that more than 51 per cent of the resident freeholders of said Green wood precinct have signed the said petition; and Whereas, the Cass county iioaru oi Commissioners on the Sth day ot June. 192S, adopted the following Resolution, to-wit: Whereas, the County of Cass has funds available that could be used for graveling county roads, and Whereas, the Board of County Commissioners are willing to help on a graveling program; therefore Be it Resolved by the Board of Commissioners of Cass coun ty, Nebraska, that the county furnish half the expense as long as funds are available to gravel on county roads to connect towns to gravel on Federal, State or county roads. The plan being tcj connect all feeder roads to the main high way, the county paying half of the expense, and the other half to be furnished locally by dona tion or by precinct tax. Therefore Be it resolved that said petition be granted and a levy of 2.2 mills be made for the year 1929 in accord ance with the provisions of the Ses sion Laws of 1927, Chapter 171. Moved by Gorder and seconded by Harris that the Resolution be adopt ed. Soennichsen and children, John and Henry, departed Thursday for Glendale, California, where they will enjoy a visit at the home of Mrs. John Gunderson, moth er of Mrs. Soennichsen and take in the many points of interest in that part of the west. DEATH OF DANIEL MEAD From Saturday's Dally Last night at the Nebraska Ma sonic Home in this city occurred the death of Daniel Mead, one of the longest time residents of the Home, following his illness of some dur ation. Mr. Mead lacked but a few hours of reaching his seventy-fifth birth day, having been born in Lynn coun ty, Iowa, December 29, 1853. He came to Nebraska many years ago and located at Western, Nebraska, and was a member of Western lodge No. 140, A. F. & A. M. Mr. Mead came to Plattsmouth in 1909 to reside at the Masonic Home and has resided here for the past nineteen years. The deceased was never married and is survived by one brother, Al bert Mead of Amsterdam, Missouri, and one sister, Mrs. Annis Green of Ottowa, Kansas.
