Home from Wedding Trip
On last Wednesday evening, Mr
and Mrs. Carl Rosenow, who have
been away for some ten days on their
wedding trip to Wisconsin, arrived
home and were welcomed by their
host of friends here. On Thursday at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Fifer a shower for the bride was had
and the afternoon most pleasantly
spent, and many and beautiful were
the presents which were given in
evidence of the popularity of the
winsome bride. On Sunday again at
the home of the parents of the bride
Mr. and Mrs. Lee M. Snaveley. was
given a reception in honor of the
bride and groom, which was attend
ed by a large number of the many
friends of this popular couple and a
dinner fit for a king was served to
those present. '
CREEKS AT FLOOD STAGE
FYoir Saturday's Daily-
The travelers over the King of
Trails highway from the south last
evening reported that the Weeping
Water creek that flows through the
southern part of Cass county, was at
flood stage and at Union the water
was near the floor of the bridge lo
cated just west of the town of Union
and that the creek, which is usually
a very placid stream, was a raging
torrent and the heavy rains over the
wide territory that the creek drains
had caused the creek to rise to the
greatest height this season and
threatening to overflow the lowlands
adjoining the creek.
The Pappio creek near Fort Crook
was still on the rampage last even
ing and during the afternoon the
creek rose to even a greater volume
of water than it had earlier in the
morning and was covering hundreds
of acres of the low land and flowing
over the wagon bridge of the K. of
T. highway. The overflow made nec
essary the closing of that portion of
the highway to traffic and a detour
to the west was necessary and where
the travelers had to battle the muddy
roads for some distance and increas
ing the time necessary in getting to
and from Omaha.
