From Wednesday's Dally Last evening the members of the Young Men's Bible class of the Meth odist Sunday school observed the passing of the twenty-second anni versary of the organization of the class, the event being held at the home of their teacher, E. II. Wescott, on high school hill. The rlass was started by a small group of the young men of the city who had been attending the Meth odist church and found that in the then arrangement of the classes there was no one class that exactly fitted their neecs as young men, and accordingly the new class was organized and very soon attract ed the attention of other young men of the community that had found the need of a class that would be exclusively lor the young men. There was need of a place of meeting and accordingly the class started the task of excavating a room from the solid clay bank beneath the church and in a few months the class had a room of their own and lor many years the sole occupants of the basement of the church altho since the excavation has been extend ed and the large church parlors, kitchen and Philathea class rooms are also located in the basement. Of the members that ttrst enrolled in the class there are none left in the membership rolls of the Y. M. B. ,C, many removing in the pass ing1 of years and others being called to the last long rest. Of the class that vision back over the years when the idea of the Y. M. B. C. wus born, there remains but the teacher, E. H. Wescott, who ia still the teacher and each Sunday directs the members in their bible study and has been the tower of strength in the class in its years of life. Aside from Mr. Wescott probably the longest time member is Jesse Perry, who has the title of president emeritus of the class. Last evening the time was spent In contests and games at the Wescott home unil the time for the business session when he election of the offi cers of "the class was taken up and the following named: President J. A. Capwell. Vice-President Robert Kelly. Secretary William Heinrich. Treasurer Howard Dodds. Teacher E. H. Wescott. After the election, the members had the pleasure of an address from P. M. Gregg, one of the best known members of the" faculty at the Wes leyan university and who spoke briefly on the relation of a bible 'class to the character building of the community and stressed the good that an organization could accomp lish in the upbuilding of a commun ity. At the close of the evening dainty j refreshments of ice cream and cake j were served by Mrs. Wescott, who ! was assisted by Mrs. W. L. Heinrich and Misses Helen Wescott and Sally Nelson. .
