The time lim ited for the presentation of claims against said estate is three months from the 20th day of April A. D. 1928 and the time limited for pay ment of debts Is one year from said 20th day of April 1928. Witness my hand and the seal of said county court this 16th day of March 1928. A. II. DUXBURY. (Seal) County Judge. A DANIEL COME TO JUDGMENT Wedding presents are the property of the bride. However, no one really cares whose property is which at the wedding. It is when the matrimonial ship has gone on the rocks that property rights must be adjusted. And frequently, be It said, the ad justment calls for diplomacy, tact and a Justice of the Peace. Last November, a local matron was granted a divorce and the custody of the child. But for some reason, the Court failed to mention who was to have and to hold the following: one washing machine, one sewing ma chine, one ironing machine, one iron fing board, one vacuum cleaner and two rugs. But the question was not left long in abeyance. The lady had the divorce and the custody of the child. In a short time, she had the list of properties that begins with the washing machine. Her former husband brought a replevia suit. Di plomacy and tact having failed, the Justice of the Peace stepped in. From the conflicting testimony, it appears that the washing machine belonged to the wife, whether by pur chase or as a present. The Justice wisely ruled that even if her former husband had helped with the wash his interest in the machine was only academic. And it must follow as the night the day" the other prop erties also belonged to her. Such was always our contention, but we are glad that the Justice made it a point of law. In fact, the only thing that puzzles us is the inequitable distribu tion of the rugs. A man could use a rug. :o: GREAT BRITAIN AND WAR We've been hearing a good many jingoes lately talking about war be tween England and the United States Some of these people seem to believe that England's leaders are sitting up nights planning for the conflict But W. C. Bridgeman, first lord of the admiralty in England he'd be called secretary of the navy over here isn't one of them. In his recent report to Parliament, Bridgeman points out that "many important ser vices either have been deferred en tirely or are being provided at 1 leisurely rate which the expectation of a prolonged period of peace alone warrants." In other words. England is letting her navy take it easy because Eng land sees no cloud on the horizon. And that wouldn't happen if Britain really thought there was any likli hood of war with the United States in the near future. :o: INTO A MAD MARKKET The frenzied activities on the stock exchange recently, with tales of fabulous gains made by fortunate speculators, have had thousands of citizens who ordinarily leave the market strictly alone to "take a plug" in the hope of making sudden gains. This is unfortunate. The stock market Is a trick place even for the expert. It Is no place for the man of small means. The most foolish thing you can do is risk a few hundred dol lars that represent years of saving. Of course, you may double your money. But, on the other hand you may lose it all oversight. If you have savings, leave them in the bank where they belong. :o: THE TACITURN MR. HAYS The word comes from Paris. In formed that he was the ex-Cabinet officer, who with Senator Smoot and former Senator Lenroot, had advised Fall to write the McLean letter, Will Hays said: "I will not comment on any phase of the oil question while in Europe." And if that senatorial committee would stop badgering him Mr. Hays would never comment on any phase of the oil question while in the United States. :o: Next to who should be captain, the i hardest thing for the youngsters to viAot) i -. i tm v v.oao ball after it has gone through some kitchen window. Secretary Hoover says the eight eenth amendment must be worked out constructively. Thus opening up a new line of thought. It sounds pretty good. :o: A man in brawery curie hall will drink a bottle of ink that any cus tomer brings in. Probably an old habitue of the night club.
