Fail Chappell, who has been visit ing for some time in the west, going to the coast, where he visited with a hister. returned 1iome last week, and tells of enjoying the trip very much. He reports good crops all the way through Nebraska. A number of the members of the Murray Woman's club residing in the vicinity north of Nehawka were over to Plattsmouth on last Friday where they met with the study club of Plaltsmouth. nslhe guests of the or ganization at the county peat. Utrt Chapman, who was a familiar figure in these parts over forty years ago. and who lias been away for over a uuarter or a century, appear ed a few dys since and is visiting with his friends. Mr. and Mrs. T. K. Fulton, and assirting with the work t the blacksmith Khop. Grandfather U G. Todd of Union was rejoicing very much during th" past week on account of the arrival at the home of his daughter, .Mrs. Krnest Rathe and husband, a son, the mother and young man doing nicely and the father as well us could be expected, while Grandfath er Todd, is hilarious. Wm. Larriek and two sons who : have been working for the past year '. at the farm of W. T. S hlictemeier. ( but on the daughter who was their i housekeeper getting married recently they concluded that it would be bet ter to move to own where Mr. Lar riek has accepted a position with the MiBHouri Pacific on their track work. J. W. Ruhga and wife, accompanied by their son. John Ruhga, Jr.. and wifeall residing southwest of Weep ing Water, were the kuckIs for the day at the home of J. (I. Wunderlich for the day last Sunday, where all enjoyed the visit very much. In the evening also Mr. and Mm. A. Roscnerans of I'lattmouth were guests at the Wunderlich home. ' Charles lierron and wife ac-om-panied by W. L. Renner and family were visiting in Lincoln for the tiy Sunday where they spent the day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Reck, they making the trip in their t cars, and by the way, they found the roads filled with c.irs ami dust. Th" guests and host and hostess were neighbors for many years west of Murray. The delegates to the Grand Iidge of the I. O. O. F. and the Rebekah Assembly respectively J. G. Wunder-' llch and Mrs. Nelson Rerger return ed home from the state meetings and reported a large and enthusiastic meeting of both branches of the fra ternities. There were some two' thousand delegates present at both . gatherings. They were the gue.ts of the city of Scottsbluff. while there and were shown all thelnteresting placesof fhe city. M ssrs. J. M. Clarence and W. A. Clarence, the well diggers, have been at the Harrv Knabe home for the past week where they have lieen sinking a well for that genial g tlenian. The later place was passed on by one of the celebrated Water Witches, who said that they would sure get water on the ppot which he indicated. Great Crowds at Oil Well. j The Nehawka oil well bids fair to' be a good competitor to the Nebraska state fair, should the weather remain good for a number o Sunday fol lowing the present. Last Sunday even driving room on the O street ! road was at a premium, for the cars were parked along the highway by the orchard and extending to the residence of Mrs. Whitman, as well as filling the orchard itseir, and the road running north towards Nehaw- ! ka. It Is conservatively estimated ! that there were five thousand visitors j at the place Sunday. Undergoes Operation. Mrs. Conrad Johnson who has been suffering for some time from stones in erne of her kidneys and which has been giving this excellent lady much suffering, was compelled to go to the Methodl.-t hospital in Omaha, where she underwent an operation for its removal, and a most delicate opera tion, but one which this good woman wen through nicely and Is getting along fairly well though very low at one time. The many friends of Mrs. Johnson are hoping she may soon he on the highway to speedy and per manent recovery. Visited in the West. Ian Anderson and wife and daugh ter, Miss Marie. Mrs. Louis Ross and Rlllie. and grandfather, Ernest Ahrends. all departed about a week nslce for Imperial where they visited i for the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyers, Mrs. Meyers be ing a daughter of Mr. Ahrends and a ulster of both Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Ross. A delightful visit was had and n mo8t pleasant trip going and returning. Friends Meeet Sunday. On last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Rutlege was gathered the family of Mr. and Mrs. Everett jSudduth. where the guest and host ana nostess enjoyed the dny splen didly. The management at the oil well is getting things in the best of condition for the sinking of the well with neat ness and dlspatr h and as soon as the casing which is so essential to have for going through the bed of quiek sand which lies under all this section of country, shall have arrived, the work of sinking the well will be pushed with much rapidity. White of this city, a fine little seven and a half pound daughter. The mother and little one are doing nicely and the occasion has brought a great deal of happiness to the family ciricle. The little Miss has been named Julia Lee. Mrs. White was formerly Miss Clara Lee Young of near Murray.
