Lorenz, Mrs. Frank Libershal. The public is cordially invited. From -Saturday's Dally About a year ago a number of the progressive men in this community who are of the opinion oil is to be found here, organized themselves to gether with the objective in mind of securing another test well near this place and as a result of their efforts another well has been promised and according to information procurable it to be started within the next four mouths. At the time these activities were started, R. C. Pollard, E. A. Nutz man, Vincent Straub, B. Wolph and V. P. Sheldon were selected as a committee to secure the leases of the land, make neecssary negotiations for the drilling and look after the inter ests of the people here who had sign ed leases to their land- During this time steady progress has been made. Approximately 20,000 acres of land is under lease, covering a tract of land seven by five miles in extent. ; The Nehawka promoters succeeded in interesting itoDt. J. uruesaow oi Omaha in their proposition who be gan activities to dispose of the leases to some responsible firm who would drill here. A company in New lork was interested and their representa tive, Robt. Chapman, has been here making a thorough study of condi tions and has decided that the com pany will drill. This fact was not decided however, until a very care ful survey had been made by M. C. Trumbull. Mr. Trumbull has the only device in the world which is an -instrument which he claims can tell if oil or gas is in the ground, and ac cording to oil promoters, his instru ment is very accurate and he has been having unlimited success in locating oil wells. He made readings here last week of the land that is under lease and as the results were so fav orable, Mr. Chapman conversed with his company telling of. the report of Mr. Trumbull and he was instructed that operations would be started. A contract has been formulated to the effect that operations will start here not later than four months from now and that a thorough test is to be made. It is planned to have a new outfit sent here direct from the fac tory for this purpose. It will be one of the best drilling machines made, according to Mr. Chapman. Likewise the site of the proposed well has been selected and will be drilled in the south apple orchard be longing to Ernest M. Pollard. It will be located near the well there where indicotious for oil is excellent. This land is located in Southwest Quarter of Section 20 near town and close to the state graveled highway No. 11. Those here who have been work ing ior this objective are very en thusiastic over the results so far de rived and like anyone else, are glad to know that another test well will be put down. Everything is to be gained and nothing to be lost by the land owners and all are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the drilling equipment so that the definite facts may be secured.
