Mr. Mar tin was state superintendent 'of schools in South Carolina for five years. He had been with the U. S. department of agriculture for four years. A rather heavy allowance of scratch grain mixture has been found to "turn the trick." Twelve to 15 pounds of the mixture (3 parts cracked corn, 2 parts wheat and 1 of heavy oats) per day per hundred pullets makes a very satis factory ration. Besides this a plenti ful supply -of fresh water should be for four weeks. All 'the. bookkeep ing is up to date and has been done in a very commendable way. The result was that the Nehawka girls wen .over their Union friends by a score of 53 to 13, while the Nehawka boys also won by a scor of 20 for the Nehawkaites and 15 for the lad3 from Union. their "Vork.
