Bauer was visiting and shopping in Omaha last week for a number of days Edward ronkow shelled and de livered his this year's crop of corn at the Murdock elevator last Wed nesday. Victor Thimgan and Henry Heine man were looking after some busi ness at the state capitol last Wed nesday. Mr. Craig Balsch was a visitor in Lincoln during the past few days last week, returning home on last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Emu Kuehn were visiting with friends in Jllurdoek on last Wednesday, coming over in their auto. Herman Gakemeier moved during the past week to the house where E W. Thimgan had lived for the past few years. II. W. Tool was a visitor in Omaha for a day last week, where he was looking after some business matters for the day. Wm. Hulfish and family, of Elm wood, were visiting last Sunday at the home of J. W. Krueger and wife for the day. Fred Deickman says the Christmas is bringing him the mumps, and with the folks getting along nicely, he is pretty well pleased. Misses Catherine and Margaret Tool are spending their midwinter vacation at the home of their parents, A. J. Tool and wife Miss Elsie and Herbert Eornemeier were visiting last Monday at Ash land, where they were also doing 'some Christmas shopping. i Last Wednesday Alvin Bornemeier sawed wocd at the home of Henry Gakemeier and on Friday also saw- ed wood at C. E. Kupke's. John Scheel was a visitor in Platts- mouth last Monday wnere he was 1 visiting with friends and also look ing after some business matters as , well The families of Henry Kleninie and Fred Klemme were visiting in Lincoln last Thursday, where they were doing some Christmas shop ping. George Norton, who sy no?: cm-; at North Platte, where he will spend the holiday season. Mr. Jess Land holm with his auto took his brother to Omaha and looked after some bus iness matters as well. One day last week occurred a very exciting time at the home of Will Stock and wife northwest of Mur dock, when their home caught fire from a spark which fell from the chimney and ignited the roof. The prompt work of Mr. tock and wjte, and the hurrying of the neighbors to the scene rendering the assistance which extinguishes the flames and saved the home. The damage re sulting was mostly the injury which occurred to the roof from the bug- ins and also what was done by the pater and tearing up that was neces sary to put the fire ut. ' man hard to txvU. Basket Ball Very Lively During the past wee a cumber of games of basket ball was played in the village of Murdock, in which all became very much interested, even if it wbb hard to win a victory. In the games which was played between Elmwood and Murdock on last Wed nesday the result was Elmwood 18, Murdock 8. Kad Most Enjoyable Time Last Wednesday evening at the school north of Murdock occurred a verv worthwhile program and box supper, which was the result of the efforts of Miss Stander, the teacher. in co-operation with the efforts of the students. In the entertainment each grade had a portion in the making of the success whieh the entertainment furnished. Gust Bornemeier departed on last Thursday evening for Lincoln, at which place he is making hia home, the most of the time and while 'he! is away and in fact all the time, j Mr. Craig Balsch is looking after the farm and the stock here. i August Panska, the mayor of the city of Murdock, is out again, hav ing completed the days of quaran tine which has kept him shut up on account of having "scarlet fever in the house. Uncle August says he is glad to be out in the world again. I Alex Landholm, who has been as sisting in the construction of the garage for his brother. Thimgan, as when he attended the 6hooting match which was held near Greenwood, he only brought down five ducks, two geese and a quarter of beef. He said that luck was against him, but probably he would have enough meat to keep the wolf from the door for a short time anyway.
