The city of Falrbury recently held
an election on tne proposition or
voting- bonds for a sewerace system,
and as a result of the election the
proposition was defeated by a large
vote, and which causes the esteemed
Fairbury Journal to rise up and de
nounce the result, me journal, now-
ever, is on on tne wrong 1001 in
some of their statements, as they
state that Fairbury will be relegated
to the class of riattsmouth and Ne
braska City by their failure to pass
the sewer bonds.
Xow the Fairbury journalist is
either misinformed or has not made
an investigation of the conditions
here in this portion of Nebraska.
Plattsmouth is just completing the
repaying of the main street at a cost
of $50,000 and installing a new flood
water sewer that cost $20,000 in
addition to the regular storm sewer
that has been in operation since
1S90. Twelve miles of paving the
last year is also a record that riatts
mouth feels proud of. N'ebraska City
has also had an extensive paving and
improving program the past year.
and if the esteemed Fairbury paper
will make an investigation they will
find their city will have to get up
and show more life than It has lor
number of years to get in the class
with either Plattsmouth or Nebraska
City when it comes to civic improve
ments.

William C. Dorsey, special assist

mended for appointment as assistant
United States district attorney.
The recommendation was made by

ler. It was learned last night. The
acancy was brought about by the
death of A. V. Lane of Lincoln.
