RETURNS FROM WEST
From Saturday's laliy.
Herman Spies, the veteran cigar
maker, who has been visiting in the
west for the past few weeks, re
turned home yesterday. Mr. Spies
spent a great part of the time in
traveling and visited Pike's Peake,
14,125 feet In the air, and while
there, one of the party that Mr. Spies
was traveling with died as the re
sult of heart failure. He also visit
or tha narripn of the Gods, the Seven
Falls. Cave of the Winds and Battle
Mountain where the grave of Buf
falo Bill is located. While In south
ern Colorado, Mr. Spies enjoyed a
side trip down into New Mexico to
view the sights. Tne "boss an
nounces that next year he is going to
take in Yellowstone park.
