Wet encamp while attempt ing to build a fire yesterday morn ing for the purpose of preparing for butchering. was breaklug a board over his knee, ran a rusty nail in the. knee near the cap. which made an ugly wound. Keichart of Louisville was called to Plattsmouth this morning to look after tome business for the day. Miss Emma Ault who is employed in Gleuwood. Iowa, was a visitor in this city last Saturday, and remain ed over Sunday, returning to her work last evening. George Theirolf of Cedar Creek was a visitor in the city for Sunday and today at the home of his broth er John Theirolf and returned to his home this morning. Col. W. It. Shanholtz and Fck Cook, who are chopping wood at or near Cullom. were visitors in Plattsmouth for over Sunday and returned to their work on the early freight this morning. George Lohnes and wife were iu the city this morning from their home near Cedar Crook, and were looking after some business for the day, doing some trading with the Plattsmouth merchants. Ira Dates was a visitor in this city this afternoon, having been in Omaha, this niorning looking arter some business matters and this aft ernoon stopping here to see about seme business at the county seat, j Mr. C. M. Gauer was a visitor iu Plattsmouth this morning from his hone near Louisville, coming to look after some business, and de parting in the afternoon for Omaha whore he has some matters also to look after. Archie and Curlie Chrissiuger of Omaha, came down to Plattsmouth last Saturday evening and visited over Sunday with their friends, and returned home last evening, and while here attended the masque ball at the A. O. U. W. hall. Hon. R. U. Windham was a visit or in Plattsmouth for over Sunday, spending the day at home, and was treating himself for a bad cold which he had and returned to Lin coln yesterday, where he takes up the work in the legislature agajn. Claude Kennedy received a notice to come to Omaha thi.s morning, and report at the headquarters of the army for discharge from the service, and departed on the early train this morning. This leaves but one on the local board. Mr. A. K. IJaru stad. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Mallonee of Harlan. Iowa, who have been visit ing here for .some time at the home of Mrs. Mallonee's brother Mr. Frank Pine and wife, departed for their home thif morning. Mrs. Mal lonee was km in this city and left here when a small girl, not making this her home for 21 years. Sergeant C. M. Hanks of Camp Funston was a visitor in the city for over Sunday with his friends, coming here to spend his furlough with acquaintances formed while he was here with the machine gun company, which practiced at the Rifle Ranee north of the city, a vear last summer. He is a member of the 41st infantry. C F. Knhney was a visitor in this city last Saturday evening for a thort time, and while here made this office a pleasant call, having the Journal make him regular visits at his home iu Pacific Junction, Iowa. Mr. Kuhney returned ho::ie Saturday evening, while Mrs. Kuh ney and the little one remained un til last evening. Krom Tuesday's Ialiy. Henry, who was formerly Miss Florence Bradway. Nels Petersen, who has been here for the past week or more checking up the county ollices, completed his work with (he help of former Coun ty Clerk Frank J. Libershal. who was working with him, and depart ed for his home in Lincoln yester day afternoon. John Xehard of Blair, from where he went to the service, was mustered out of the service last Saturday, and arrived in this city Sunday morn ing and has since beeu visiting at 4he home of ljis friends R. L. Propst and family and departed last even ing for his home. Y. T. Arn who with the family were down with the Influenza for so long are all well, and were able on Sunday to visit with friends at Un ion. .Mr. Arn returning in mnu iu go to work yesterday niorning, and the remainder of the family re maining for a longer visit. George Connis. who has been here from Camp Funston visiting with his brother for some time past, de parted this morning for the Kansa cantonment to again take up his duties as a soldier in Uncle Sam's army. George does not know when he is to be discharged, but is hope iful it will not be long now until he gets the much-looked-for bit of pa per that will return him to a civilian status, as now that the was is over he is anxious to get back to his busi ness. Where he is now !o- cated he will have an abundance of room compared with the place where he was. Mr. Weidman will continue at the old stand, which is an excel lent place for him and is plenty large enough for the business he conducts, which is euto supply shop, making a specialty of renewing of tires. Signature of URENIA POISONING CAUSED DEATH Mrs. Frances Paxton Passed Away Saturday Evening At Kirksville, Mo. From Tuesday's Dally. Last Wednesday Mrs. Frances Taton departed for Kirksville, Mo., and was followed in the evei.ing by her son Fred C. Stewart and on the day following was operated upon for trouble which had afflicted her for some time and after the opera tion was apparently recovering nicely until the complication set iu which resulted in her death Satur day evening. The remains arrived at this city yesterday at near noon and was taken to her home in this city. The funeral occurred this aft ernoon at two o'clock from tho Methodist church. Rev. K. V. Hunt er in charge and the burial at Oak Hill cemetery. Mrs. F. E. Paxton whose name was Frances Ilarber, v.-as lioru at Homer, 111., forty-nine years ago, and was united in marriage with Alexander Stewart, deceased, Fred C. Stewart of this city being her son. After dcp.th of Mr. Stewart she was again united in marriage, with William Paxton and to this union was born Miss Grace Paxton of this city. Mrs. Paxton leaves be sides her two children, her aged mother Mrs. K. P. Harbcr who has for the past two months been vitit ing her daughter. Poisonous Waiite Causes Sickness.
