K. G. PASSENGER TRAINS
ROUTED THROUGH HERE
The Burlington has been sending
their passenger trains from all points
on the main line and the K. C. route
through this city today owing to the
fact that the Union Pacific bridge be
tween Omaha and Council Bluffs is
being replaced today by the new
bridge and the structure will not be
ready for travel for at least several
hours after the moving starts. The
Burlington is fortunate in having a
bridge over the Missouri river at this
point as it allows them practically to
push their trains through on time.
All the trains on the K. C. line as well
as No. 3 are sent through over the
Plattsmouth bridge while the night
trains are being handled by the Union
Pacific that hopes to be able to have
the new bridge in and ready for serv
ice inside of one day, if their plans
carry out as expected.

The temperature this morning was
still of the rigit variety and at the
Burlington station at 7 o'clock 5 be
low zero was registered, which was
one degree colder than on Wednesday
and now holds the record for the cold
est weather of the season, and the
state of Nebraska was the coldest yes
terday of any state in the Union, but
the indications point to a moderation
of the weather. Several of the resi
dents of the city report it as cold as
10 and 12 below last night, but they
doubtless took their own personal
opinion rather than that of the mer
cury for the basis of their conclusions
