No class of citizens is mure determined that there shall be safely than I he auto own iuiluniobiles, than the auto own ers themselves. This was richly demonstrated in Chicago last week when a jury convicted an auto driver of murder in having run down and killed a pedestrian, and sentenced the driver to four teen years in the penitentiary. Note that on lhal jury were four owners of automobiles. The cir cumstances of the killing were very aggravating. The fact that automobile owners did not hesi tate lo convict a reckless driver of murder, and sentence him lo a long term in I he penitentiary, is assurance that the danger from automobiles is from a very small proporlion of their users. Most ou to owners do not fear accidents for which they may be responsi ble, but every man thai uses a machine wilh any sense does fear the recklessness of the few who are reckless.
