congregation last evening at the
Presbyterian church to enjoy the
beauty of the excellent selections
rendered by the choir, under the
direction of Miss Mathilde Vallery,
and the ditVerent soloists of this
splendid organization. The an
them by the choir, "lleslival Te
Ib'iiin," was most impressive and
inspiring, as was the duet by Mrs.
I'.diia Kalon and Miss Vallery on-
lit led "Crucifix," which portrayed
in a most solemn manner the les
son of the crucillct ion. The solo
by Miss Margurite l'otler Shull,
"I Come to Thee," by Caro, was
one of the finest musical numbers
that lias been hoard in this city,
and tlio beauty of Miss Shull's
splendid voice carried the mes
sage of the song into the hearts
of the audience. The closing
number on the program, "Holy,
Holy, Holy," a duet by Mrs. Eaton
and Miss Vallery, closed what was
undoubtedly one of the most im
pressive song services ever held
in this church, and the large audi
ence felt lhat they had an unusual
opportunity in listening to the
concert to appreciate more
lessons of the Christian life.

readers, which is growing larger

The Chatham Mill.
John M. Meisinger, agent for
the Chatham mill, grain grader,
cleaner and separator, made at
Detroit, Mich., sold one of the ex
cellent pieces of farm machinery
to the county a few days ago. Mr.
Meisinger has sold several of
them, and has been using one
himself, and it is his honest
opinion that the machine will pay
lor itself in tlie hands of every
(lass county farmer. Mr. Meising

The Dance a Success.
The dance given Saturday cen
nm by the Cosmopolitan club of
this city was a splendid success
from every standpoint and those
who attended had an evening of
unalloyed joy dancing away the
passing hours to the tuneful
music furnished by the Holly or
chestra, and il was with regret
lhat tho saw the hour for depart
ing roll around. The next dance,
in April, to be given by this or
ganization will be in the nature, of
a carnation ball.

Funeral Occurred Yesterday and
Remains Laid at Rest in Oak
Hill Cemetery.
The funeral services of Miss
Blanche Murray were held yester
day afternoon at the home of her
mother, Mrs. John A. Murray, and
were at tended by a large con
course of friends, who gathered
to pay their last tribute to one
who had been so dear to I hem and
whose passing leaves such a void
in the hearts of all who knew Miss
Murray.
The sermon was preached by
Rev. V. 1,. Austin of the First
Methodist church, and was beauti
ful in its eloquence in speaking of
the life of the departed, as well as
full of hope to the sorrowing
relatives and friends who are left
behind. The Kuterpean (!lee club,
of which Miss Murray had been a
member while a resident here,
sang several of the old, well-loved
hymns which had been favorites
of their friend while living, and
the Milt strains of the music
brought tears to the eyes of those
who are left to mourn the passing
of this highly esteemed young
lady.
