Misses Gertrude Hartman and Fdith Jean went to Glenwood, Iowa, this morning for a visit with friends. X. II. Wilkinson, 1. W. Teeparden and C. E. TelTt, of Weeping Water, were in the city on business today. R. II. Frans, administrator of the estate of Henry Wolfe, deceased, was in county court today looking after the affairs of the estate. Miss Mamie b itz?erald went to Lin coln this morning for a visit with iela tives and to attend the ball given by the hiirh school students. II. It. flering was a passenger to Omaha this afternoon to attend the Snriner's festivities thisevening, when thev will initiate a class of fifty. Kae Patterson and wife and George Falter and Miss Margaret Dovey went to Omaha this afternoon to attend the "Lion and the Mouse" at the Uoyd theater. Mrs. O. Guthinan departed this af ternoon for Cheyenne, Wyo., where she will visit with relatives. Her daughter, Mrs. Gus Olson, accompan ied her as far Omaba. Iiobt. Windham, who has been em ployed by the Western Electric com pany in Little Hock, Ark., for the past several months, came in this morning for a visit with home folks. M. H. Shoemaker, of near Union, was in the city today on business, but found time to cill on the Journal to renew for another year. Mr. Shoe maker is one of the wealthy and ener getic farmers of Cass county. L. II. Peterson was a caller at these headquarters tin's morning for the purpose of renewing his faith in the Journal fur another year, and also or dered a copy of the Old Reliable sent to his new son-in-law, J. L. Maytield, Pleasantdale, Xeb. A marriage license was issued yes terday to Luther Johnson, cged 21, of Nebraska City, and Miss Minnie Rrinkman of this city. Gauer, one of the constant readers of tbe Journal, was in town on business today from his home near Cedar Creek, was a caller at these headquarters for the purpose of re newing for the Old Reliable. The board of insanity examined Wm. Albin of Union this afternoon in re gard to his sanity, and after hearing the evidence of a number of witnesses, the patient was dismissed, it appear ing that he was feeble minded and therefore not a subject for the treat ment. In the action against the Cosmopol itan Life Association of Freeport Illi nois, to recover judgment on a policy for $1,000, issued by that company to It. S. Wilkinson, his wife, .Nettie II. Wilkinson, the beneficiary and plain tiff in the case, was granted a judg ment yesterday for the full amount by Judge Travis. From Saturday's Daily. Wm. Rice of Murray was in town on business today. Holmes returned to Murray this morning after a short visit with relatives in this city. Misses Harriet Fight and Euna Towle were among the passengers to the metropolis on Xo. 7 this afternoon. Miss Pearl Woodward, who has been visiting with friends in this city, re turned yesterday afternoon to her home in Elmwood. Mrs. Morris O'Rourkc, who has been visiting with relatives in this city, returned this morning to her home in McCook, Xebraska. Miss Lillian Rankin of Havelock, is expected in the city this evening to spend Sunday with friends, the guest, of Miss Jessie Robertson. Henry Horn, one of the substantial farmers of KUht Mile Grove precinct, while in the city today called and re newed for the Old Reliable. Todd of Murray was looking after business in Plattsmouth today. Mrs. I. A. McGinnis of South Bend was visiting in the county seat today. Chas S. Stone and Jeff Brendell of Murray were Sunday visitors in Platts mouth. M. G. Churchill and family of Mur ray were in the city to spend Sunday with relatives. County Assessor J. M. Teegardeu returned to his home in Weeping Wa ter this afternoon. Geo. Lohnes, from the vicinity of Cedar Creek, was looking after busi ness in town today. Carl Xeuman returned to Denver, Colorado, this afternoon after a short visit with home folks. Charlie Patterson came in from Arapahoe this morning for a visit with Plattsmouth people. Miss Esther Larson spent Sunday at Union with ber siste, May, who is teaching school near that village. James Calder came in from Elm wood yesterday for a few days visit with friends, the guest of Clayton Ros encrans. Gilbert O'Rourke of Crawford, XeK, was in the city to spend Sunday with relatives, the guest of his sister, Mrs. T. E. Parmele. W. II. Lohnes was in the city from Eight Mile Grove today, and whi'e here called to renew for the Journal for another year. Mrs. L. II. Critchtield, who has been vis'ting with her daughter, Mrs. G. M. Porter, returned yesterday to her home in Weeping Water. Dr. B. F. Brendell was in the city Sunday enroute for his old home in Zionsville, Indiana, to visit the scenes of his childhood. He will be absent about ten days. An inquiry in regard to the heirs of Hiram Robine, a Plattsmouth boy who died while serving in the army in the Philippines, has been received at the county clerk's ofllce. Will Coolidge, who for a number of years has been engaged in business in Central City, S. D., but has recently sold out, came in this morning from Tacoma, Wash., where he has been looking over the county. Robt. D. Taylor and wife, who have been visiting with the family of J. M. Robertson, went to Lincoln this morn ing, where they will visit for a short time before returning to their home in Franklin, Xeb. Mrs. Ed Ballance, who has been en joying a visit with relatives in this city, returned this morning to her I home in Havelock. John Lutchens of Murduck, was a business visitor in Plattsmouth today. ! Mr. Lutchens is administrator ot the i estate of Fred Ostealag, deceased. ! County Clerk W. E. Roscncrans and ; wife went to Elmwood this afternoon i to attend the K. of P. initiatory work that the lodge of that village will con duct this evening. In police court last evening Andrew IJrissey and Wm. Richter were ar raigned on a charge of shooting in the city limits. Both plead guilty and were assessed lines of $." and costs. Mrs. Eliza Stander, and daughter, Ella, and Mrs. Peter Stander, all of Louisville, came down this morning and will remain several days with Mrs. Stander's son, George and family, west of town. A warrant for the arrest of a four teen-year-old boy, Louis Rotbman, was issued from police court today The boy is charged with throwing i stone and injuring the seven-year-old son of Mrs. Jos. Warnpler. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Walker and little grandson, Walker Gilmore, were in the city today. While here our old friend and little grandson called on the Journal for a brief time and re newed for the Old Reliable auotber year. Col. J. A. Thrasher, A. L. Tidd, Frank Richey and Judge Travis went to Elmwood this afternoon to attend a banquet to be given by the K. of P. of that place. The boys are assurred a good time. Mrs. Harry Xorthcutt and daugh ter came in from Omaha this morn ing for a visit with her mother, Mrs. R. P. Kennedy. A suit for divorce was tiled today in the district clerk's ollice by Maude Finton vs. Ed Finton, on the grounds of cruelty and non-support. nerman Thomas and Boyd Porter were in town from Mynard last even ing to witness the "The Girl of the Golden West" at the Parmele. A warrant deed conveying lot 10 of block 14 of this city, from Alica Eeal to F. C- Frink for a consideration of 6700, was tiled yesterday with the county recorder. The funeral of the four months old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Grado ville, who died yesterday afternoon af ter a short illness, occurred this after noon from the home. Our old friend, W. J. Laughlin, of Greenwood, we are pleased to learn is enjoying good health, and is now down in Arkansas to spend a few months with one of bis sons. Mrs. M. E. Davis, Mrs. W. II. Frans, Mrs. J. R. Dysart and Miss Pearl Bramblet of Union, were amcng the out of town people in attendance at "The Girl of the Golden West" at the Parmele last evening. W. n. Shoemaker, one of the rela ble and well-to-do farmers of near Xehawka, was in the city today to pay his taxes and transact other bus iness. While here our old friend called and renewed for the Old Reli able for another year. Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Laughlin, of Greenwood, were in the city today on business, and found time to give tbe Journal a pleasant call, and we were more than pleased to meet Mrs. L. for the first time. While here Mr. Laugh lin renewed his allegiance to the Old Reliable. The county clerk, who has been looking after Fred Xixey, the Scot who bad his left foot cut off while try ing to catch a freight, had the patient removed from the Perkins house to the county farm in order to cut down the expense. The young man is recov ering nicely, and will be able to get around upon crutches before long. The Xebraska statutes, prohibiting physicians and others specified from making public confidential informa tion, has been upheld by the United States court of appeals at St. Louis. McEotee went to Shenandoah, Iowa, this morning to look after some business matters connected with the manufacture of his new dump wagon. Mrs. .Llmer McManis of Omaha is visiting with Mrs. P. E. Ruffner to day. She will return home this after noon in company with Mrs. Hoy Dodge. The docket of the equity term of the Cass county district court, which con venes next Monday, contains twenty five equity, twelve law and only two criminal cases. A bill of sale was tiled in the county clerk's office today transferring the drug store and fixtures of W. C Car raher, in Union, to A. E. Stites & Co., the amount paid for the same being $2500. Miss Minnie Guthman, who has been visiting with her sister out at Mur dock, returned home yesterday accom panied by her sister Mrs. II. It. Set zel and two children, who will visit with her parents here for a few days. A delegation of riattsmouth people including County Clerk Ilosencrans and wife, Judge II. D. Travis, Frank Richey and Col. J. II. Thrasher, re turned on the Missonri Pacific this morning from Elmwood, where they assisted the K. of P. with the work in the third rank.
