The Grip.
"Before we can sympatize with oth
ers, we must have suffered ourselves."
No one can realize the suffering at
tendant upon an attack of of the grip
unless he has had the actual exper
ience. There is probably no disease
that causes so much physical and
mental agony, or which so successfully
defies medical aid. All danger from
the grip, however, may be avoided by
the prompt use of Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy. Among the tens of
thousands who have used this remedy,

has not recovered. For sale by F. G.

HIDDEN DANGERS
Nature Gives Timely Warnings That No
Plattsmouth Citizen Can Af
ford to Ignore.
Danger Signal No. 1 comes from the
kidney secretions. They will warn you
when the kidneys are sick. Well kid
neys excrete a clear, amber lluid. Sick
kidneys send out a thin, pale and
foamy, or a thick, red, ill-smelling
urine, full of sediment and irregular
of passage.
Danger Signal No. 2 comes from the
back. Back pains, dull and heavy, or
sharp and acute, tell jouofsick kid
neys and warn you of the coming of
dropsy, diabetes and Bright's disease.
Doan's Kidney Pills cure sick kidneys
and cure them permanently. Here's
Plattsmouth proof.
W. T. Cole, of fi08 Locust street,
Plattsmouth, Neb., says: "I con
tracted kidney complaint in the army
and have felt the effect of the trouble
off and on ever since. My back never
caused me any acute suffering but
there was at times a dull heavy aching
and lameness across the loins that an
noyed me considerably. Retention
and scantiness were evident with the
kidney secretions and they were occa
sionally accompanied with pain. An
advertisement about Doan's Kidney
Pills came to my notice and being fa
vorably impressed with the claims
made for the medicine, I procureda
box at Gerlng & Co's drug store. I did
not take them regularly and used only
about one-half of a box, but I can say
they made a marked improvement in
my condition, every difficulty being
relieved. I can vouch for Doan's Kid
ney Pills being a valuable remedy."

The fight against consumption is be
coming a national problem.
Every where we bear of sanitariums
established at the expense of the state
for the treatment of the vast army of
consumptives.
The open air treatment, fresh air and
sunlight, are recognized by the medical
profession generally as being the great
est necessities in the treatment of con
sumption in all of its stages.
Dr. Ilartman has for many years ad
vocated the fresh air treatment for con
gumption. At the same time he has
recognized Peruna as a useful palliative
for the many distressing symptoms
which accompany the white plague.
ROCK ISLAND SECURES MAIL
Gets Service Away From the Burlington
From Chicago to Omaha.
From and after January 24, the Cni-
cago Rock Island & Pacific Railway
company will carry the fast mail be
tween Cnicago and Omaha, which for

WAS FEARED.
"A woman recommended

Peruna and now 1

from a cough.
"I am glad to say that Peruna cured
me entirely. I take Peruna occasion
ally when 1 do not feel well and I also
give it to my children.
"Peruna is the best medicine for
coughs and colds. I have told many
people how much Peruna has helped
me."
Peruna tends to lessen the cough, de
creases the expectoration, strengthens
the patient, increases the appetite and
in many cases procures sound, refresh
ing sleep.
But the value of Peruna in the treat
ment of a case of consumption is not ho
great as it is in the prevention of con
sumption. Since it is well known that consump
tion begins with a common cold or ca
tarrh, any medicine that can be relied
upon to relieve these must be regarded
as a preventive of consumption.
Thousands of caeea of incipient con
sumption, or chronic coughs, or settled
colds, have reported Perun as being a
safe and reliable remedy for these ail
ments. Supply Yourselves With Stamps.
Patrons of the rural mail delivery
route seldom buy postage stamps. In
stead they include two coppers with
each letter they put in the mail box.
A country paper publishes this ad
monition: "Before you put your let
ter with two pennies into the box just
think what it means to a man whose
fingers are already chilled by several
hours' exposure to pull off his gloves
and fish out those pennies, repeating
this process perhaps forty or fifty
times in one day's delivery. It is ap
parently a small matter, yet it means
a great deal to the carrier. Keep a
supply of stamps on hand and thus
save the already overworked and un
derpaid carrier much additional hard
ship." The Right Name.
Mr. August Sherpe, the popularover
seer of the poor, at Ft. Madison, la.,
