Also, some of the older ones might want to do post-graduate work like Depew whose neck is close to the noose. A Nice Time Mrs. II. F. Ida Baker and Miss Viola Young. Miss Marie Berger and James Manners attended Uncle Josh" at the I'armele theatre Friday evening. Since then, Jim, w ho has charge of the Independent telephone central here, rings up frequently and calls out, 'Wink the Eye and One.' but no sparkling beverage is passed through the door at him. Speaking of an old-time friend, who cuts you who deserts you and flees to the ranks of your enemies, you despise and will forever distrust him. Judas Iscariet and Benedict Arnold are al ways taken as examples of arch-traitors. The man that does not like you, but keeps aloof is a man to be re spected, but the double-faced mon strosity must be watched. The example of certain members of the Christian church who regularly attend the evangelistic meetings is much appreciated. If all church mem bers were only able to give up a few hours of labor, and a little personal ease so they could be present when such meetings are held it would greatly increase the spiritual power of the community and result in the conver sion of many souls. Part of the stores in Murray have been closing at the hour of 7:30 o'clock so that business would not conflict with the preaching of God's word. That is placing religion and also busi ness right in the teaching of the Bible, the place where Jesus wants them. Were all church members to carry out this principle of putting Christ first and business second there would be more people living as God's children, and fewer finding fault with the church. It would also add to the prosperiibusines.s: for "Godliness is protable unto all tilings" business noJ,excepted. Since Alexandev,IIyde and McCurdy the man who believes in family mon opoly down to old Tige, the dog) have baen rousted from their feathered nests and are at leisure they could do a profitable business by starting a Correspondence School of Graft, awarding each student an anti-penitentiary diploma. Should they start Board of Missions Meet. The Murray Auxiliary of the Chris tian Women's Board of Missions met at the pleasant home of Joseph Sans, Wednesday afteinoon at 2 o'clock. State Treasurer Mortensen has com piled figures showing indirectly part of the charge against the state of- . leg islative session, says the Lincoln Jour nal. The books in the treasurer's of fice reveal that the general fund war rants held by the state as an invest ment on December of the present year figured $2,133,467.41. Adding to this figure the warrants held by the pub lic, which aggregated 8242,513.09, the total debt of warrants of the state outstanding the first of this month was 32,380,980..j0. In contrast with this the warrants outstanding on De cember l,ino:;,aggregated $2,203,177.21. This is an increase in the state debt in two years of 117,803.2;. The books of the state show that in the first of these two years a gain of approximate ly $10,ooo was made over expenditures, but the second year, during which the legislature was held and a great many appropriations were used, caused the debt to increase $127,.jltS.GS, or, allow ing for the gain of $10,000 in the first year, showing a net increase for the two years of -?117,S03.2'.. The state has suffered from the loss of taxes refused by the railroads. In the coming biennium the treasurer figures that a reduction of $00,000 in the debt will be brought about through the operation of the slightly increased valuation and the iSheldon bill that will bring in $300,000 in a lump sum to go to the reduction of the state debt.
