Of Importance to Exhibitors.
The Agriculture committee in charge
of the Livestock and grain exhibit, look
for that feature of the Merchants Car
nival to be held in thi3 city from Wed
nesday, Sept. 1st to Monday Sept. 6th,
to greatly exceed the expectations of
the carnival promoters. Farmers and
stock raisers in general have shown
great interest in the event and so many
have signified their intention of bring
ing in stock, fruit and grain for exhibit
that the committee finds it necessary
to employ a separate expert judge
for the poultry and grain as well as the
live stock. This will incur quite a little
additional expense but it is the purpose
of the committee to arrange matters
to the complete satisfaction of the
exhibitors.
An expert frcm the Nebraska State
Farm will judge the grain and Supt.
A. H. Smith of the Nebraska Poultry
association will judge tho poultry.
Hon. J. F. Coupe an expert from Falls
City, Neb., will judge the stock. This
gentleman comes in placo of Prof.
Ash by who was suddenly called to the
northwestern part of tho state and
could not serve. Prof. Ashby highly
recommends Mr. Coupe who is an ex
perienced stock judge.
Those intending to exhibit grain and
fruit will find the large store room
under Byron Clarks law offices near the
court house, fitted up with tables and
booths for that purpose. Among those
who will have charge of the exhibits in
this room will be Julius Pitz, Wm.
Hamilton, Dr. Hall, Will Adams and
Geo. Farley.
Those who will be present to exercise
supervision over the stock exhibits at
Smith's Barn and enclosure arc Geo.
Kaffenberger, Luke Wiles, John Tritsch
Geo. Born and C. A. Bengen. Large
banners have been painted and will be
hung at each placo so that visitors will
have no trouble in finding the respec
tive exhibits.
All owners of fine poultry are es
pecially urged to bring in their birds
and have them judged by Mr. Smith
who is one of the best qualified poultry
judges in the country. Also our farmers
and fruit growers should bring in some
of their best products so that wo may
show outsiders that Cass county is still
doing business in spite of three succes
sive seasons of partial crop failures.
It is not generally known that the
Nebraska State Fair, September 6-10
has the host Agricultural and Educa
tional exhibits shown nt any State Fair
in this country, but such is the fact.
Twenty-two counties will exhibit Coun
ty Collective Agricultural Exhibits,
nml the Educational building is filled to
overflowing already.
