Nine wounde d Cubans have been brought in Troops Arrive. Sibonoy, June :0, via Playa De E.-te. The transport Louisiana ar rived this evening with troops. The transport Mobile, after a mistaken chase and runawav by Vixen, arrived tonight. The cruisers Newark and Harvard also arrived tonight. All had troops which will debark at dawn. EXCURSION TO WASHINGTON. Company It Company B from Plattsinouth, which reached Fort Omaha yesterday, took noon mess with company II from Stromsburg. George L. Sheldon, a farmer living at Nehatvka, is the cap ttin of company 15. He graduated at ttio university of Nebraka with a cap tain's commission in 1802 and is also a gr aduate of Harvard. The first lieu tenant is Ocar II Allen, also a farmer living near Wabash, and a graduateof the state university in 189-5. The sec ond lieutenant is C. A. Rawls, a Platts- mouth attorney. He and Captain Shel don are the only married men in com pany B. The first sergeant is R. E Finney, cashier of the First National bank at Weeping Water, The men in this company have been drilled by the captain and the lieutenants. Omaha World-Herald. Company II Examined . Thrall's resi dence, on Third street, last night and gained access to the basemoat, but was not satisfied with that, and was trying to raise a window when Mrs. Thrall gave an alarm. She had heard the man walking in the basement and was b idly f righlc-ned. Mr. Tnrall not being at home, as he works nights for the B. &. M.. M. S Briggs heard the cull for help and got out of bed in time to see the man making quick time getting out of tho lot. The fellow was so quick about it that Briggs was unable to get a shot at him. Plenty of Horse Thieves. Shariff Wheeler is flooded with let ters giving descriptions of stolen horses from all over the country. One horse aod buggy were stolen from Lan caster county this week, making eleven horses in all during the last month stolen f om this one countv. Cass h:is fared ve-y well indsed no horses hav ing oeen stolen nere ior several months unless one missing from Eim wood bus been stolen. The horse is three .years old and the owner thinks it has been led away. Kecrults Wanted. Lieutenant Rawls is here today from Fort Omaha, looking for recruits t ) fill up the ranks of company B, made necessary by reason of the twenty-four men who faiUd to piss the examination. Attractions of the National Kducatlonal Association . The meeting of tho national !duea tion association at Washington, July 4 to is, promises to ie one ol more than ordinary interest. Tho general meetings are to be divided and will offer a choice of program. Tho quali ty of the program of tho general and the specai meetings alike has never been surpassed. As to tho city itself, it is a place evory American should visit and study. As congress will probably be in session, thero could bo no more favorable time than while it is the center of the great preparations now in progress for tho war with Spain. Even if congress should ad journ, thero would remain tho attrac tion of tho work of the departments which will not relax during the con tmuenco of the war. In addition to tho many places of interest in Wash ington, arrangements have been made for railroad and boat excursions to all points of interest in the east cen ter. Parties going from Nebraska will take the most convenient route to Cnicago, arriving thero tho morning of July 5. From there the party will go together on a special train over the Pennsylvania route, arriving in Washington the afternoon of July (J Arrangements have been made for meals for the regular excursion party between Chicago and Washington at 50 cents each. Those not wishing meals can avail themsolves of tho lunch counters. Those desiring sleep ing car arrangements should write the member of the committo of tho initial route.
