Whilethe renult is not purely n partisan victory, inasmuch as the full den.- ocratic vole wan K'teertoii, there is not given to little question that the sub-treasury loans, the question of issuing unlimited paper currency and the policy ol free and unlimited coinage of t-il-ver has each rect i ved a black eye. The people of Nebraska lire to be congratulated that they have o ably done their duty and main tained the credit of our state nnd the dignity of our supreme court. In Iowa the result is highly en couraging to the republicans Doth parties arc still claiming the governorship but conservative estimates indicate that the entire demovratic state ticket is ek-ctcd. The republican find encourage iu the fact that gains have been made in the legislature, insuring the election of a republican senator to succeed Senator Wilson. The fight on the governorship was made solely on the prohibition question and the election of lloies ha no signiheance concerning national issues. Iu the election of the legislature, however, the policy of the party on national it-sues was at stake and the result is a com plete party victory. The vote polled in New York wa exceptionally light, indicating little interest in the result. Flower' I plurality will reach 4!).(i.K). '1 he light wa purely local, Fasset turn ing hi batteries upon Tammany hall and Fluwerpiishiug the world' fair Issue with effect. Hereafter doubtless, Fasset will be inclined to favor New York for the world' fair. The result wiU have a ten dency to put the republican in fighting condition for !S(r.', when the tight will be made on the tariff and free coinage quest ion. The western portion of the state had little interest in Tammany, but up on the issue of tariff, reciprocity and honciit money a much better republican vole could have been poled. l'cnnsvlvanla rolls up her old time republican majority of 50,00:). The light In thi stute, however, wa mainly local, and has but little national significance. ,The democrat elect a governor in Massachusrtta by 3,000 plurality Governor Russell think the result indicate that the people desire the free entry Into our port of raw mnterial.
