Lincoln. June 26. 1884.
No stronger ticket could have been
named for the support of the electors
of Cass county, than this, our soldier
ticket of 1884.
II. Greeley, is the name of a new
democratic editor of a new democratic
paper at Wahoo. It has been demon
strated, however, that in running a
democratic paper there is nothing in a
name.
The Congressional convention at
Beatrice Wednesday; the state conven
tion at Omaha the 27th, and the field
will be open for work in this section
of Nebraska.
Eloquence would break forth iu
speech if not in song at Saturday's con
vention, and Mayor Smith's nominat
ing sreech of Mr. Hyers, as well as
speeches from Judge Wolph and others
were received with great enthusiasm.
The Cass county republican conven
tion passed a resolution unanimously
endorsing Congressman Weaver for a
second term. This is but simple jus
tice to our Congressman, who has been
faithful in duty during his first term,
and who will be a more efficient mem
ber the com k g teTm. The idea that
has gained prominence that Cass coun
ty had favors to bestow in this line upon
Other candidate?, has been explode!.
Tomorrow the Judieial District con
vention will l.t held iu this city. The
district comprises Cass, Lancaster and
Otoe counties. The nomination of a
candidate for district atteruey is the
only busiaesa of importance to come
before the Convention. Mr. Strode will
probably be nominated by acclamation
and the session will be a short one
Lancaster county, jat the republican
convention last Saturday, elected
twenty one delegates to the convention
and instructed them by unanimous vote
to vote solid for J. B, Strode. At the
Cast county republican convention that
gentleman was allowed to name the
delegates to represent the connty in
that convention. Otoe county has not
been heard from vet, but it ia said it
will be solid for Mr. Strode. This is a
good endrr3cucnt of that officer's rec
ord. He has also received compliment
ary notices from the press all over bis
district. We clip the '"V.bwmg from
last Saturday'- pape:
uoid uuca uut appear itr ue any op
position in the Second judicial district
to the renomination of Mr. Strode as
prosecuting attorney. He has tilled
the office to the general satisfaction of
the people aud credit to himself. Neb.
Cynosure.
Tberp seem a to be no opposition to
Hon. J. B. Strode, tor District attorney
for the Second judicial district. He has
Oiled the position with decided ability,
and has won the confidence and es
teem of all who have come in contact
with hiuu as district attorney e a
pronounced and endora as "the right

The Republican ticket nominated at
Louisville, Saturday, is a ticket that
commends itself to the good judgment,
the good sense and the patriotism of all
the members of the party. It is a tick
et made up of reliable, competent, time
tried and tested citizens, who honor
the ticket as the republican party hon
ors itself in their selection. The repub
lican party, with such men as K. W.
Hyers, Dr. Thomas, Geo. W. Clark,
James Crawford, Anderson Rot and
John II. Becker as standard bearers in
the coming contest, presents a front to
the common enemy that ought to prove
invincible, and with the party strength
behind it, can and will be elected by a
good round majority over any nominees
the united opposition can name. The
ticket is a ticket of old soldiers, and
two of the nominees have hld posi
tions of trust with the people of Cass
County heretofore, and their records in
t hese positions have been such as to
merit and receiye the cordial endorse
ment of the people. Geographically
t!ie tit ket comes from till the more im
portant purls of the county : Mr. Hyers
ircui I'lattsmo'ith, Lr. Thomas from
Weepinjj Wattr, Mr. Clark from Green
wood, Mi. Cn:wfo d and Mr. Root, the
larmei's candidates, liuus South Bend
a 'id ltock JJlufis, white Mr. Becker, the
caudidatc for Commissioner, conies from
Eight Mile Grove precinct.
The delegates assembled, who nomi
nated this ticket, worked in the great
est harmony, and worked with the one
grat object in view, of placing a ticket
in the field that would command the
hearty support of the peopla. The del
egates assembled were representative i
republicans, representative citizens of
Cass Connty, and the body politic was
as earnest, loyal and able a delegate
convention as the republican parly has
eyer gathered. Therefore, success to
their work; success to the ticket; euc-
cess, too, at the polls in November
through a united party in hearty co
operation !
