political and civil rights, are in favor

the Omaha Herald means to charge
this obj-'ct upon the proponed colored
convention soon to assemble in Wash
ington. It is the old auti-beilurn ar
gument which we used to hear slavery
advocates use against the abolitionists.
We think there was a great deal
more cf this loin down amalgamation
practiced in the days when the "race
line" theory nourished in this country
under the guise of Afric:i Slavery.
Wnerever colored men are denied thi-ir
political and -civil rights, its is perfect
ly proper that they should meet a: d
discuss the matter, and it we n't hurt
any one except it be those who are de
nying them their rights under the law.
