Leaving out of the question the crim

RACE LINE.
Tha editor of the Omaha Herald
sneaks right out cu the '' color line"
question. Tho Dr. says it is a "race
line," and we guess he i3 about right;
but isn't the Herald a little off in its
charge, that Frederick Douglas, and
the advocates of the colored men's full
political and civil rights, are in favor
uf (uaatjamatioa' We hardly think
the Omaha Herald means to charge
this obj-'ct upon the proponed colored
convention soon to assemble in Wash
ington. It is the old auti-beilurn ar
gument which we used to hear slavery
advocates use against the abolitionists.
We think there was a great deal
more cf this loin down amalgamation
practiced in the days when the "race
line" theory nourished in this country
under the guise of Afric:i Slavery.
Wnerever colored men are denied thi-ir
political and -civil rights, its is perfect
ly proper that they should meet a: d
discuss the matter, and it we n't hurt
any one except it be those who are de
nying them their rights under the law.
