There were six end men, and from the
opening they kept the audience up-1

The Western Union About to Swal
low Up the B. &. M. Lines.
For some time past there have been
rumors that the Western Union tele
graph company was about to make ar
rangements by which the telegraph
lines of the entire I. & M. system
would pass under their control, and it
is now expected that the arrangement
will be perfected about the first of
June.
It seems that this is in accordance
with the terms of the contract entered
into by which the Hannibal fc bt. Joe.
Kansas City & Council JJluffs and C.
13. & Q. are to p:is3 under one management.
The Western Union already con
trolled the lilies of the A. & X". and
Xebraska Midland, but those of the
rest of the li. & M. were controlled by
that corporatian, their offices ia this
city being at the corner of Farnani
and Thirteenth and the Western Union
office. This required the keeping of
two sets of books and a large amount
of labor in repeating messages etc.
The new deal will do away with all
this and thus be as great benefit to the
two companies. It will also be a
benefit to their patrons, both iu in
creasing the facilities for business and
in lessening the rules, both lines now
charging local rates. While tlie change
would give a much lower through rate
to all.
It would also add at least 1,000 miles
if not more to the lines now controlled
by the Western Union. Omaha Bee.
X. C. McFarland, land commissioner,
writes to the U. S. land office in Beat
rice, concerning the Otoe laud sale, and
from his letter we are permitted to
quote the following: "It must be well
understood lrom this on that an at
tempt by parties to secure large tracts
of land will be frustrated at some point
before patent is reached." He also
writes that, as at present advised, he
expects to be present at the gale. Be

I)r. Fishblatt Deer Sir : I do not know

without saying something to express my grate
fulne for relief brought by your treatment of
me. My persistency in trying everything sug
gested by others for the cure f catarrh had
jostled my faith somewhat in the power of
anyone to bring relief. 1 even mistrusted that
your professions were based simply on theory
and that I was to be another of the many upon
which you desire to practice. Hut to my ever
lasting delight, I was deceived. Vour reme
dies and the treatment worked like a charm
I was not only relieved of the distressing ills of
Catarrh, but wan entirely, and I believe, per
fectly restored to health. 1 am now no more
troubled with the effects of theriixea.se which
so aftneted me than if I never had had the com
plaint. I do not write this purposely for your

kind of an acknowledgement, trilling and
