Austin, May 3. There is considerable
apprehension ou the lower Itio Grande
regarding yellow fcyer. The governor
received a telegram from the chamber
of commerce at Matamoras, advising
that should quarantine be necessary this
season that the station be made at Ba
dad instead of Brownsville. The officers
of Brownsville consulted with the Mexi
can authorities on the subject. -

Fort Worth, Tex. May 3- Informa
tion reached this city Tuesday that Maj
Wesson, army paymaster, had been rob
bed of his valise, containing .$24,000 in
currency, while occupying a sleeper on
the Texas & Pacific railroad, near Sweet
Water, on Sunday last. The officer was

unexpended he would turn the residue

in this city are still closed, with no I
present prospect of opening. The
keepers have asked the council to grant,
them tLe privilege of selling whisky, in
which case they will take out license-

a comi act not to take out licenses, hop-
ing to frighten the. council by the los3

are firm, and the probabilities are that a
