Bitten by a Snake
Thos. Kildow, who has been in
the employ of Jonathan Hatt, was
bitten by a bull snake Saturday af
ternoon, while pulling weeds on his
farm adjoining the Platte bottom
road. The snake bit him on the
thumb, but there is nothing serious
about the wound.
Broke Her Arm.
Myrtle Worden, the ten-year-old
daughter of W. II. Worden, fell out
of a tree yesterday and broke her
left arm just above the wrist. She
also dislocfted Jier wrist. Dr.
Seliildkn.vht was railed and set the
fractured member.

Louisville.
The past week has been a very
busy oiu in Louisville.
Mr. M.irkonet sold Xi.WK) feet of
lumber and bought one car load of
corn.
The streets have been thronged
with teams every day.

There was a cry of lire last Fri

slightly burned while putting out
the tire.

Mr. Michael Williams bought one
car load of hogs and shipped them

County republican convention
met at Weeping- Water for the pur
pose of electing delegates! today
to the state and congressional conventions.

city to grant a franchise for M'
and power was read and referred to
the judiciary committee. 1 he com-
pauy seems to be anxious to start
their street car line, which they re -
cently purchased and contemplate
making a big change in the route
of the line. They propose to make
a belt Hue of the road.
An ordinance was read, to be
known as the "annual appropria
tion bill," and the rules were slis
pended and it was placed upon its
second and third readings and
final passage
On motion of Councilman Lake
the Hoeck the judg nt was r-
ccred paid, or as much thereof as

A Shelton would pay, and that a
levy be made for the balance. Car
ried. Treasurer Morgan was present
and asked the council if he should
issue distress warrants upon those
who failed to pay their occupation
tax. The council instructed him to
follow the ordinance to a letter and
Chief of Police (irace was appointed
deputy tax collector.
Mr.'Spies called the attention of
the. council to a defective crossing
at Seventh and Oak streets and the
street commissioner was ordered to
repair the name.
