A Freak ofLightning
A Central City telegram says: Two
ladies, Mrs. James Lantiu and her
aged grandmother, living near Pal
mer, in this county, were struck by
lightning and killed Monday eve.
Mr. Lantiu was in Fullerton at the
time and the family, consisting of
the two ladiesand three small child
ren, had taken refuge in a storm
cave. They were standing next to
the door of the cave, the mother
holding her seven monthsold babe
in her arms, when the deadl3 Hash
came. Neither the bal3" or either
of the other were injured.

the new school house east of town
in dist. number 11. It seems a
"traveling carpenter" has been
stopping in Murray- for some time
doing xvork for different ones, and
won the the good will of Murra3-'s
people. This spring he visited
Union, and put h bid in on the
school house that was to be built
His bid proved to be the low
est and the contract was awarded
him. He secured Messer, Root and
Fmght as bondsmen and started
his work 13" letting the foundation
contract to one of our masons Mr.W.
Jones. He drew $150 on his job and
has skipped to the unknown, leav
ing his bondsmen and contract be
hind. The bondsmen will finish
the school house per contract, and
perhaps will spare no pains in try
ing to bring him back if he can be
found.
