A letter from A, R. Titus, who

burg, Iowa, says he is getting
along fine and having a good

Peru Tuesday forenoon, going
down to his farm south of town.
He returned home Wednesday
afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Marlatt of
Brownville started for Chapman,
Kansas, last Friday, to spend
the winter with their daughter,
Mrs. Drain.
Sunday night Dr. Frazier made
two trips to Brownville, one to
Verdon, one in the country, be
sides two or three in cown. As

nights previously, he felt slightly

Mrs. G. Mahle died at her home
in Brownville at 2 o'clock a. m.
Tuesday, December 15, 1908.
Mrs. Mahle was one of the old
settlers, and few made so many
friends or are so highly esteemed
for their many good qualities as
was the deceased. She had a
bronchial affection, with compli
cation of heart trouble and the
infirmities of old age.
Mrs. M. C. Scott, who has re
cently moved into her new home,

against Ed Gilliland, a recent
resident of Nemaha, charging
him with selling a team on which
Mr. Smiley held a mortgage.
Mr. Gilliland, who now lives in
Richardson county, has sold the
team, it is said, to Steve Chance,
from whom he bought it.
