The News sevesal weeks ago published that it was the inten tion of the Burlington to rrn the passenger train between this City and Falls City, but at that time several individuals who thought they were well posted said that The News did not know what it was talking about. Now it is announced that this much talked of time table will be made public in a day or two and will go into effect March 3d. By this change Nebraska City will lose two conductors, two engineers, two firemen and a breakman. The Beatrice freight will run to this city, instead of stopping at Nemaha City, and will give us a conductor, engineer, fireman and three breakmen. The train from this city south will be a mixed one. Neb. City News. Forbids Marketing Game Birds & Fish Deputy Game Warden Pierson has been telephoned from Lincoln that the bill to stop the sale of game birds and of food or game fish caught in inland waters has becme a law by the signature of the governor. The only birds affected at this time by this act are wild ducks, it being the open season for them. The bill protects wild ducks and other game birds, fcr which a season is open, from being sold in the market. It also forbids the sale in mar ket of any food fish caught in the inland ponds or rivers. Illus trating, Mr. Pierson said: "You can shoot ducks or other birds which can be shot in open season for your own use, or you can give them away, but you cannot sell them. The same with fish caught in ponds, lakes like Cut-off or the Platte river, but fish caught in the Missouri or any boundary stream can be marketed." Omaha World Her ald. Opinion of Justice Holmes." The Lincoln News says: "What the decision means is that the state of Nebraska and each county where the Burling ton or Union Pacific taxes are owing for 1904, 1905 or 1906 may proceed to collect them by the means usually employed where a property owner is delinquent. State and county officers may levy upon the rolling stock, the cash receipts or any other form of railroad property if payment is longer withheld. All the in junctions that the railroads have been able to secure now fall to the ground. "Coming on the heels of the state legislature's action in pass ing two cent fare bills last week, the supreme court decision is a hard jolt to the railroads. "For the year 1904, from which the resistance of the Burlington and the Union Pacific dates, their taxes aggregate the sum of $307,000. For 1905, it is about $320,000, and for 1906 the sum exceeds $330,000. Interest penal ties of 10 per cent dating from December 1 of each year, will bring the total somewhat above $1,000,000. The railroad com panies have paid in part of this sum in counties where the treas urers saw fit to accept their tender of 80 per cent on the taxes levied. "Senator-elect Brown, who as attorney general won the suits in the district court of the United States and who with the present attorney general, W. T. Thomp son, conducted the state's side of the cases in supreme court at Washington, was the recipient of many congratulations this after noon. Mr. Brown could not con ceal his exhultation over the victory, although he modestly refrained from any loud "crow ing" over the fallen enemy. To The News he said: "Although we believe the state was entitled to this decision and were confident of getting it, I was very much gratified to learn the good tidings. The fight was long and hard, but this ending is enough to pay for everything. The supreme court of the United States is a great tribunal of justice. It has de cided these cases right, as I believed all along it would." Will Parriott, who has been studying law at Lincoln, for some years past, has decided to return to this city and practice his profession here. He will occupy his residence in the south part of the Second ward, which is at present the home of J. M. Armstrong. The latter will lease the Moody property and will have possession of the same the first of June. Republican. Rising From the Cravo A prominent msnufacturer, Wni, A. Fertwell, of Lucama, N. The new Canadian law regu lating the observance of Sunday will go into effect on March 1. It is a sweeping prohibition of all labor and business, with the exception of certain works of necessity and mercy. These ex ceptions include the care of live stock and perishable food, the transportation of passengers, the supplying of the ordinary neces saries of life like water, gas, electricity and milk. In emer gencies freight trains may be made up and run. A part of the act that promises to improve the intellect of the dominion is the prohibition of the importation and sale of Sunday newspapers and the failure to place the pub lication of such newspapers in the excepted list. In view of the contents of the average Sun day newspaper at the present time, especially the ones from New York that naturally flow over the border into Canada, the prohibition seems to have genuine merit. The law prohibits any editor, reporter, printer or other employe of a morning newspaper from engaging in the work of preparing the Monday morning edition before 6 o'clock Sunday evening. Excursions and general entertainments of all kinds are in the prohibited list. The only latitude found in the law is the possibility of nullifying itthrough the indifference of the provincial attorney general, who must originate all prosecutions. This takes the operation of the law largely out of the hands of the local authorities. For Catarrh, let me send you free, just to prove merit, a trial size box of Dr. Shoop's Catarrh Remedy. A man who saw the moon over his right shoulder and was feeling pretty safe for the month began the next day by falling over the railing of the back porch with a pan of ashes in his hand. The neighbor who saw him alight said it resembled the firing of some old Fourth of July cannon loaded with the old-fashioned smoky powder and charged with ashpan, grief aid profanity. Kidney trouble preys upon the mind, discourages and lesscitsnmbltion; beauty, vigor mm encerim iiess soon disappear when the kidneys are out of order or dis eased. Kidney trouble has become so prevalent that it is not uncom mon for a child to be born afflicted with weak kidnevs. If the child urinates toooftcn, if the urine scalds the flesh, or if, when the child reaches an age when it should be able to control the passage, it is yet afflicted with bed-wetting, depend upon it, the cause of the diffi culty is kidney trouble, and the first ntcp should be towards the treatment of these iinportautorgaus. This unpleasant trouble is due to a diseased condition of the kidneys and bladder and not to a habit as most people suppose. Women as well as men are made miser able with kidney and bladder trouble, anil both need the same great remedy. The mild and the immediate effect of Swamp-Root is soon realized.
