They were attending tho funeral of a relative, Lester Poabody is having con siderable alterations made in his residence on tho farm northeast of Nemaha. lie is having tho roof taken off and a second story built on, and will havo a largo porch built on. C. F. Zook and John White uro doing the car penter work. It pays to advertise. Judge Stull of Auburn advertised for a cow and at tho same time tho editor of The Advertiser adver tised a cow for sale. Tho judge bought the cow, so bpth adver tisements wore answered. J. W. Webber drove in from Auburn Monday morning and took tho cow out. The plan of services at the Methodist church has been changed, and until further no tice the following is the order: Next Sunday there will be preaching at Howe in the morn ing and Nemaha in the evening. The following Sunday there will be preaching at Nemaha in the morning and Howe in the even ing, and so on. Thus each church will have one service every Sunday, but they will al ternate, in the morning and even ing servi;es. Last Sunday the morning service was at Nemaha and the evening service at Howe. The evening service now begins at 7:30. Born To Marion Seid and wife, Friday, Sept. 21, 1906, a fine daughter. Marion Seid is now brakeman on the C. B. & Q., with head quarters at Norfolk. Miss Kate Thompson, who has been in Nemaha for some time, returned to Lincoln Saturday. 'Elmer E. Allen is having some cement walk laid in his yard. Ned Crother is doing the work. Kimmel and wife of Aubuan visit-ed the former's brother, Harry Kimmel and wife, over Sunday. An ice cream social will be held at Champion school house Saturday evening, Sept 29, to which everybody is invited. The school had a vacation Wed nesday to enable the pupils and teachers to attend the county fair that day being children's day. Frank Tiius and Ed Knapp started for Minnesota Tuesday afternoon to sell apples for G. N. Titus. Two cars of apples fol-. lowed them. Mrs. Ann Maxwell went to western Kansas last week, to visit her son John. Her grand daughter, Miss Maggie Hacker, went with her. Geo, E. Codington, proprietor of the Auburn bus and transfer line, went to Chicago last week to buy an automobile to udd to his line of vehicles. George ia bound to be in the front. For several weeks they were very late on account of de lay caused by loading fruit. Elmer E. Allen took a lot of kodak pictures while he was on his trip east, and has had Mrs. Florence Jarvis dovelope them since coming back. He has some fine views of Niagara Falls, the canals in New York state, and other places. F. E. Hoover now has string beans raired from seed grown this year. This is doing pretty well for a northern state to raise two crops of beans in one season. But we have got so we are not much surprised at any thing in Nebraska. C. IT. Kindig, who has been visiting Alberta, Canada, return ed to Nemaha Wednesday. Seo his letter on an inside page.
