Doc Clark is feeling about as proud
and happy as any one can all on ac-

Mrs. Bosina Wheeler has been very
sick with rheumatism for several
days, but is improving- under Dr. Kay's
skillful treatment.
Tho editor was unable to bo out of
bed Monday, but is now fepling a great
deal better.and it is hoped the improve
meut will bo petmanent.
Church Howo gave us a pleasant call
Friday morning. Church has a walks
away this year, but is doing some hust

Tho new sidewalk at tho Methodist
church was paid for by the Methodist
ladies' aid society not by the ladie3 of

Mrs. Klice, of Garnott, Kansas, is
visiting her daughters, Mrs. Mattie
Woodward and Mrs, Fannie Yackly,
and hersisteis, Mrs. Ollio Scovill and

Hon. G. W. Cornell will address the
peoplo of Nemaha on the political is
sues of tho day Saturday night of this
week, at Hoover's opera house. Every
body is invited to be present.
Dr. John B. Jack is making friends

last week, on a visit to her brother,
Charley Curttright. She left for Ann
mosii, Iowa, on Tuesday, to visit other

The Bennett mill is again running,
with James F. Bennett in charge. Mr.
Bennett informs us ho is now prepared
to grind buckwheat and rye, in addi
tion to regular grist work, and solicits
patronage.
Judgo S. P. .Davidson, of Tecumseh,
will address tho Nemaha McKinley
club Monday ovoning, October '20th.
The judge is an ablo speaker and will
make an interesting address. Euerys
body is Invited.
Chris Shuck has bought tho Banks
house in tho western part of town, oc
cupied by Creon Burgess, and Jake and
Phil Shuck have moved in Mr. Bur
gees will occupy part of tho house un
til after election.
Judge Stull made one of tho best
speeches of the county campaign at
Brownvillo Monday night. lie was
tho principal speaker, as Church Howe
and Judgo Burnham were both at an
other appointment.

days ago that we huvo ever seen. It

well for all in be on their guard, as a
gang of counterfeiters ma be in this
vicinity.
Rov.C II Gimiore moved to Blown
vil'o Thursday, into the M. E. parson
age recently purchased. Tho citizens
of Nemaha regret very much to have
Bro Gilmoro and family move awav
from Nemaha, but aro glad that he
will continue to preach for us the en
suing year.

The entertainment given by tho ju
venilo literary society at tho opora
house Friday night of last week was
excellent. Tho little folks always do
well, especially when trained by Miss
Brooks, as there was a drizzling rain
nearly all tho evening, man wore kept
from attending, and it was therefore
decided to repeat tho entertainment
Friday night of tills weok.
Hon. 0, A. Corbin, republican can
didate for tloat representative, gave up
a plnasant call Tuesday. Mr. Corbin
was tho tloat representative from No
malia and Johnson counties during the
session of 18S0, and served with honor
and credit to himself and the counties
lie represented. Nothing lias ever
been chaiged against him as an honor
able man, and all admit his ability.

The McKinley club "flung its banner
to tho bree.V bent Saturday. It is 43
feet, long and a yard wide, ami is
stretched across the sticet from the
opera house to tho Hag pole. On the
banner in two lines covering almost
its entire length is painted in large let
tern, "McKinley and Ilobart Club of
Nemaha City, Nebr. A Sound Dollar
and a Chance to Earn It." Sherm
Hadlock did the painting.
There will be services in the Episco
pal church at Nemaha on Thursday
evening, Oct. 22nd, by Rev. Irving P.
Johnson, of South Omaha, district
presbyter of tho Episcopal church. He
is very anxious to meet all interested
in the resuming of legular Servian in
tliij church. He will also hold meet
ings at Peru Wednesday evening, and
at Auburn Friday ovoning. A general
invitation is extended tho public to at
tend these services.
A. J. ttiirnham, the repuh icaw can
didate for county attorney, lias heen
making some splendid speeches during
the present, canipnign, not only in Ne
maha hut in Johnson mid Hichardson
counties. Mr. Hurnham in now solv
ing the fourth year as county attorney.
During tho time lie lias heoti in ollice
lie has not only conducted the criminal
cases with ahility, but has saved the
county a great deal by his advice to
the commissioners, do is deserving
of re-ulection. Ho will receive more
than the republican vote.
Mrs. William II. IJrookover died at
her residence in Hrownvillo Thursday,
October 15th, of consumption. The
deceased was a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jesse H. Fanner. After a happy
married lifo of only a little over two
years the loving husband is called upon
to bid farewell to the ono whom he
had chosen as his lire companion, and
now he is ieft alono. The bereaved
ones have the sympathy of all in their
hour of trial.
A hnhy girl, about one year ono old
is left, winch the mother previous to
her death gave to her sister, Mrs. Ed
Puller, of Vesta, who has had the care
of the liUlo ono for several months,
during the mother's sickness.
The iuneral services were held at
the Christian church at Nemaha Fri
day forenoon.
