Vceder is at home again the school at Johnson having closed last Friday. He informs us ho will prob ably remain a citizen of Nemaha until about the first of September. The entertainment given at tho opera houso Thursdaj night by Littlo Carlio and Laureo Kroll was first class. On account of th stormy weather a vory small audienco was present. Rev. P. Van Fleet, of Nobraska City presiding elder of tho Nebraska City district of the M. E. church, stopped in Nemaha Friday night of last week, and attondod the commencement ex ercises. Arrangements are being made for a Sunday School convention to be held at Nemaha probably tho latter part of this month, by tho Sunday schools of Nemaha, Aspinwall and St. Doroin precincts. W. S. COMMENCEMENT, The fourth annual commencement of the Nemaha High school was held at Hoover's opera houso last Friday night. The exercises began with an invocation by Ror. Van Fleot. Miss Emma Crlra gave an Instrumental solo, time was ilno. Then came the oration, "Our Structurejjife," by tho one grad uate this year, Miss Dora Morton. It was well worded.and tho ideas brought out were good. Misses Bosslo Vrost and Bello Galbralth gave a duot in an excollent mannor. Hev. C. II. Gilmore delivered tho addresB which wasouoof tho best over given foeio. The diploma was then presented to the graduate by tho president of the board, W. W. Sandors. Modesty forbids us Baying anything about tho speech, but truth com pells us to say that Rev. Gilmore has acted to' us since then just like a man does when he is jealous of another, and he probably didn't like it becauso wo got tho most applause. MisB Maud Minick then gave a vocal solo, which was flnoly rendered. Wm, H. Davonpott, tho principal, gavo a Bhorttalk, in which some good advice was given to tho school patrons in regard to visiting tho school and taking an lutorest in school matters. Rov. C. II. Gilmoro plead guilty to neglect, and by a rising vote almost every one in tho audienco admitted that thoy were also guilty, and prom . tsed to do hotter in the future. Gilmore, met with a bad accident last Sundav afternoon. She was visit ing Nellio Sandors, and the two little girls were running on a -boardJaid across a puddle of water. Edith slipped and fell on her knees on the board, and a.nail ran into her leg just below the kneo. Tho nail was a 0 penny wire nail and had beon driven through tho three-quarter inch boaid and beut over, but the sharp end was sticking up far enough to catch tho flesh, and it ran in tho full length ' tho nail, fastening her to tho board. It took a hard pull to loosen her from tho nail, and of course tho flesh was badly lacerated. Dr. Keeling dressed the wound. Ho says it was the worst nail wound ho ever saw Editli suf feied a great deal for soveral days, and was confined to her bed and chair but is able to walk around again, though she will suffer from tho wound for somo time yet.
