Bent, (formerly Miss ElTie Dougherty of this city) and family of Denver have returned from their trip nbroad. They visited the principnl cities of Europe and viewed the best collections of art and places of historical valuo of tho old world; also heard many of tho operas presented in vnrious mus ical homes. They attended the Passion Play at Oberamagan and were de lighted with the presentation that only tho quaint surrounding of that place afford. It will please the friends of Avery Bent to leain that his sight was reasonably improved under tho treat ment of the famous occulist, Dr. Her man Pugi8techer of Weisbaden, Ger many, whoso skill has received world wide recognition. Because of the wonderful luck with frost, tho growers of late corn have had this reason it is feared that the present year will bo an encourage ment of lazy methods to the class of farmer who likes work none too well.' Estimates of both crops taken to gether point to from 70 to 82 percent of a perfect crop of corn. Apples.
